Morning all,

i Just wanted to know everyone thoughts on the Edugeek Newsletter:

1) Do you still want it published and made available to you?

2) What do you want in the Edugeek Newsletter

3) Is a Mailing list a good idea so you can get it mailed to you monthly

4) Would you read it or don't you want it

Just want some feedback guys, as i am thinking of taking it on to produce monthly and just want to know what every would like and if it is worth it so to speak.

Thanks for your input

Regards

I think it sounds like a good idea - getting the news that is relevant to us without having to scour the net for it.

I'm happy to help out with articles too if you want?

Yea if all goes well, it would be nice if user's could PM me with useful things they want or think would be good to see in the newsletter and i will add it in.

I can see this working one of two ways

1)Either publish news on main website and then a weekly/monthly newsletter highlighting recent published stories and forum topics.

2) Alternative is producing content in monthly newsletter like we did for the idg magazine at BETT so 3/4 good length articles

Better option I see if number one this way we get up to date news on site but then also have mail out to remind people that are members and also to highlight content might be forgotten.

Well, the kind of thing you are looking at is anything related to IT in education - Software & hardware reviews. Day in a life of a tech (each month different tech so we all see what each other does). BSF info. Just things like that.

At least that's my two pennies :D

I just know that if these came out weekly, they'd never get read by me. They would stack up in my in box for when I've got time and then be deleted.

Monthly and I'd make time to go through it.

Yea i always had it set to be monthly, i dont have that much time or mosy importantly information to add into a weekly newsletter.

In a month theres allot that can happen giving me stuff to actually put in there instead of repeating myself in newsletters week after week.

Reviews of kit from a school use point of view would be great. Desktops, laptops, digital cameras etc.

Working on that as for something else maybe getting stuff we can review so will use what i can here on edugeek..

Also I happy to make sure anyone working on news articles etc gets copies of press releases that orgs send out..

His spelling is interesting, needs to engage brain before fingers more often :D hehe. Fine I'm no saint either but :D

Monthly is best as well, as GD, my Computing and IT Weekly builds up and up, thats why I switched to electronic issues, download the PDF of them and then I can read them when I have time.

I think it's an excellent idea, could include sections on recent developments on important issues like BSF as it's always tricky to track down the right information on this. Perhaps a 'case study' type article if someone's carried out an interesting/different/groundbreaking project and want's the share the details with other people. Maybe things like recommendations on good practise, useful information like links to relevant sections of the BECTA site, stuff like that.

I'd more than happily write some contributions for it, I'm not too bad at writing articles (I hope!) mainly enjoy writing the 'how to' type articles as I did a lot of these for the intranet at my last place, but it depends on the sort of newsletter as to whether that sort of article is relevant.

Monthly for me, weekly and I'd end up ignoring them!

Case studies, and a day in the life of a different tech would be interesting, along with latest relevant news - software, hardware, policies, etc, etc (with policies, initiatives, etc, please bear in mind some of us are in Wales and we abide by the WAG not Mr Browns education bods :p on the plus side it means no BSF :D )

As you all are aware i have been working on the new edugeek newsletter, It is ready to be relased now on the 1st.

I am just wondering if any one wishes to be added to a mailing list where i will email it direct to you rather then you downloading it off the site.

If you would like to be emailed the newsletter please post here or send me an email.

If you no longer wish to receive it by email after this month then just let me know and i will take you off.

Thanks
