Koldov Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 (edited) I've been asked by our admin lady why when she double clicks on an email message (using OWA in Chrome) it doesn't expand... I think I've managed to establish that she means it doesn't pop out into a 'new window' with the email in it as it does in IE once you allow pop-ups, which makes me think it's a Chrome issue (but it doesn't even ask). So I thought it was a pop-up block in the settings, but I've just tried it on mine with no restrictions and it doesn't work either. I've tried allowing 'ht tps://outlook.office.com/' in the 'pop-ups and redirects section in Chrome and turning off the protection entirely, but still no joy. I don't think it's a setting in OWA (or at least not that I can see) and I'm going round in circles researching on the internet. I don't use OWA so I'm not sure of its expected behaviour, but the user swears it used to work like that... Edited January 10, 2022 by Koldov
foofighterjim Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 Its not Chrome: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/office-software/225702-owa-double-click-not-opening-email-new-window.html 1
Tom_P Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 Doesn't seem to be a Chrome issue.. I checked it on mine and emails open in new window after double clicking. Im using version 97.0.4692.71. I'll try replicate the issue.. If i come across something I'll let you know.
Koldov Posted January 10, 2022 Author Posted January 10, 2022 Ah I see, forgot to do a search... Do you know if your users or those from @kennysarmy are using Chrome then or another browser, because it doesn't appear to be OWA either as it DOES open in IE with a double click once you allow pop-ups.

Strange though, when I checked the version it decided to start an update... so I'll see in a minute... EDIT: OK, on Version 97.0.4692.71 now aaaaaaaaaand nope, hasn't fixed it! foofighterjim Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 User I was talking to was using Chrome, I was using Edge (Chromium). In either event, the browsers nor the settings (that we control) have been changed recently.
Koldov Posted January 10, 2022 Author Posted January 10, 2022 Interesting... right clicking the message and choosing VIEW > OPEN IN NEW TAB makes the screen flicker, but nothing happens...
kennysarmy Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 Interesting... right clicking the message and choosing VIEW > OPEN IN NEW TAB makes the screen flicker, but nothing happens... We're getting the exact same with some users - but for some it still works.

ozydave Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 Getting the same here. Been trying the latest edge and chrome on both windows and Linux Really annoying
ozydave Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 Fired it OWA this morning. Appears to be working in Firefox, chrome and modern edge.
maxrebo Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 We had a few calls about this yesterday, didn't work for me on any browsers - all ok this morning.
kennysarmy Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 All OK here for me too - hopefully that's it fixed...until the next thing MS break !
