Hi,

 

Looking to do dual screen from a device that only has a single HDMI. Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced adapter that will allow this to work?

USB 3.0 ports available? You could try a USB 3.0 to HDMI adaptor. If it has a USB-C connection it may be able to output via that too.

HDMI doesn't support multiple screens from a single port. DisplayPort does though.

Otherwise you'll need to use USB-C to HDMI possibly, if you have a USB-C available.

There's the Matrox DualHead2Go and TripleHead2Go products, but reasonably priced they're not. I'm pretty sure they're in a field of one, however.

Your best bet will be a cheap graphics card, providing your device can fit one?

What device are you trying to get the 2 displays out of? It may be that your graphics hardware isn't capable of doing it!

You don't need anything special at least. £15 gets you 2 x VGA on an nVidia Quadro NVS310, or a dvi and displayport on an AMD R5-240.

With your onboard hdmi you're ready for extended display across three screens

Yes, that’s right.

as mentioned above if your laptop has a usb-c port that port may also carry a display port signal (display port alt mode). if so that'd be a no compromise way of doing multi monitor.

 

Not all usb-c ports carry display port but I have had laptops (the dynabooks from the DFE) that do support it despite the port not advertising it.

VGA out only, but they work very well, most reliable ones I've tried!
