Aruba WIFI help

We`ve just installed our Aruba Wireless throughout and really struggling with connection speeds with Laptops.

 

We have 60 Lenovo V15-IIL Laptops that only seem to connect on the 802.11n radio and not AC.

 

Even when 20 or 30 login in a classroom, log on speeds for some take 10+ minutes

 

The WLAN card (Realtek 8822CE) should be able to connect to AC but only seem to connect to "N"

 

Speeds are 50 mbps, connecting to the nearest AP, signal strength is 100%

 

Is this a device (Laptop) issue or can I change something on the AP?

Sounds like a laptop issue to me, we've never had any issues with Aruba speed on our 515 and 225 transmitters. They are blazingly fast with all devices. Edited October 19, 2021 by supportman

Problem is the V15 is a budget consumer crossover to light business device - their higher models are in a different league. Shame though, as the old B5** and B** models weren't bad old workhorses.

Not familiar with Aruba but couldn't you make a 5Ghz only SSID and try them on that.

We have managed to modify the WLAN driver on the devices to force it to use AC, this with updating the driver has enabled to get what I would class as "OK" speeds.

 

...and yes, these laptops are a pile of garbage!, bad battery length, keys falling off (not helped by students pulling off the remaining ones!), expensive keyboard replacements.

 

A lesson learnt for the next purchase!

Can we buy better WLAN cards to resolve this?

We don`t have any issue with Wireless performance other than this model, and we have two trolleys full of these.

Yes - but you need to get proper Lenovo ones, as they're FRU locked There will be a compatibility list on Lenovo's site.
