CMS_2kv3 and Hikivision CCTV software

Hi All,

 

I was wondering if anyone can assist?

 

We have two CCTV software:

 

1. CMS_2KV3 and

2. Hikivision (ivms-4200)

 

With the Hikivision software it won't run unless your an admin - has anyone found a way around this? And

 

With the CMS_2KV3 software, the software will run, but will not connect to the CCTV cameras "DVR name(Code) is invalid". It's the same as before (we're working from the original instructions).

 

If anyone has dealt with this before, would be grateful for what you did to resolve.

We use iVMS here and need to give the end-user full permission over the iVMS folder within Program Files, for it to work.

HiKVision here : MSI pushed out to end-clients who need it. User accounts created on the server.

 

Not aware we needed to make any changes to permissions on local end user devices to get it to work :/

It was the same for us (no need for admin access) but we tended to not use the HiKVision supplied software but used the IE add in/extension instead. Users were given their own HiKVision users on the portal with appropriate access (playback, download, PTZ functions) set per user.

 

By the time I left IE was no longer supported. I don't know how they are accessing CCTV now.

It's been a while, but I remember having a similar sounding issue with Swann's shoddy software, but from my notes I got around it following this guide: How to start and bypass UAC for your trusted applications | Meridian's Blog

 

Not sure if that's the issue you're having, but sounds similar enough that I thought I'd chime in.

Thanks all Got it working, the version of the software we were using was slightly out of date. Upgraded to the latest version, and while it still prompts for the username and password, entering a standard username and password, it loads and lets the user use the software.

 

Still has issues with the CMS CCTV software, where the CCTV won't connect to the software, but with the age of the software, I'm not expecting it to.

We have a badged Hikvision NVR from Chubb and were given the Truvsion software to use on desktops and smartphones

Extract the MSI from the EXE, maybe? (I used 7Zip on other EXEs when I needed to do this. Doesn't always work.)
