Leaving!

Hi guys n gals.

 

Well its been 1 year and 1 month / 13 months / 396 days or something like that.

 

But alas, I am now leaving my position. Not for a higher paying job, or even more job satisfaction (if you can get more elsewhere) :0), having worked both in private and education, I have to say I prefer educaton.

 

Anyways I am leaving to become a house husband, (baby due 29th July) yes, I will be up to my arms in dirty nappies, baby food, mountains of washing and whatever comes along with it. My wife will be going back to work in Jan 2009 but we have decided we would like to both be around for the baby and each other in the first 5 months until my wife goes back to work.

 

I will still be here looking at posts occasionally and who knows when I am ready may find a position again in education, if I don't get to used to being at home.

 

My last day will be the end of this term (summer holidays) 23rd July. My position will be posted on here as well as everywhere else, so keep an eye on Oakgrove School - Recruitment if you are interested.

Seriously though when you pick that baby up for the first time theres not a feeling to compare.

Best of Luck Scott not that you'll need it as you will see your baby grow up from the start.

I actually envy you this as I had to go to work for 7 days a week 16 hours per day for the first 6 months of my first child being born.

He was always in bed by the time i got home so didn't get the bonding.

second child was better in that i got to bath and change nappies etc etc.

yeah, its a shame that the pay in schools does not reflect the pay in private for the same work. But fortunatley pay was not a factor for me.

You will not regret it, we did the same and it was the best 4 years of work I've had so far. Trouble was when she went to school full time I had alot of empty space in the day and as the story goes ended up helping in school then ended up here as a teachnician\teacher. Enjoy every minute, they soon get to the teenage stage and remember to go to the local parent and toddler group, you end up being a novelty if you can stick it, I managed three years!

Try and get some part time work in a school it will keep your hand in and keep your sanity believe me, all day baby talk, seven days a week does take its toll, its not the easiest job but well worth it. Good luck.
