slugshead Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 I only bought a PS3 as a cheap blue ray player, then Netflix took off. It's been turned off ever since
chazzy2501 Posted July 14, 2021 Author Posted July 14, 2021 I remember seeing a samurai guy taking on monsters on flying wooden ships in a cinematic many moons ago. what was that game?
Dos_Box Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 I've been meaning to get my hands on a PS3 for a while now. Mainly becuase the system is home to many very good retro game collections (80's games) that never made it to the Xbox and, as has been pointed out, prices are silly low to get your hands on one. Ideally I'd like to get the earlier PS2 backwards compatible versions, but the price for those can be very high.
chazzy2501 Posted July 14, 2021 Author Posted July 14, 2021 I think the game, I'm looking for is onimusha, (which is a PS2 title!) dang thought about a backward compatible console but was worried about reliability.
Garacesh Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 You'd be better off getting the remaster on PS4. Didn't only Warlords get remastered? Or are there Samurai's Destiny and Demon Siege remasters I've somehow completely not realised exist? (Dawn of Dreams I could take or leave tbh, it was alright, but not as good as the others)
chazzy2501 Posted July 16, 2021 Author Posted July 16, 2021 bam, the ps3 slim came with a horrid aftermarket wired controller and a 20GB! drive (I didn't know they came that small) I was going to upgrade it anyway!
LeMarchand Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Don't know what the current market is like, but I had a heck of a job finding a second original controller when the PS3 was EOL many years ago. Still not convinced that the one I got isn't a knock-off, though it doesn't have any of the normal distinguishing features of one.
round2it Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 if it does not have the ps logo in the middle then its a knockoff, but i have seen a few good copies. you cant beat the genuine controller im looking for one now but they are still 25-30 quid second hand controller from the ps4 works except for the ps button
chazzy2501 Posted July 19, 2021 Author Posted July 19, 2021 welp, I bricked it. The console wouldn't play any games as it had no space for saves! well the console is now demanding I insert a controller via cable but it won't accept the aftermarket controller so, I sent it back to CEX. I bought another off ebay instead with what looks like an official controller and 3 games for 46 quid... maybe this weekend. I was tempted to get a cechc03 console for the hybrid ps2 compatibility but it seems not worth the extra £80 and unreliability of the first consoles...
mikester1980 Posted January 19, 2022 Posted January 19, 2022 PS3 was pretty bad tbh, literally just a horrible yellow colour and worse than the 360 in every possible way. I was looking at getting a PS3 devkit for the region free PS2 hardware backwards compatibility but they are all a nightmare to keep running now. Emulators are slowly improving though.
round2it Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 my games obsession is getting silly now, 260ps3 212 ps2 games oh and one ps1 game you might want to consider custom firmware so you can run retroarch on it really easy to do picked up a few jems last week shadows of the damned and lollypop chainsaw 2 quid each in a charity shop its a nice cheap hobby apart from the wife moaning at be taking up all the space
