Domino Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 So, firefox 3 is to be released next tuesday (save any huge bugs being found). And to launch it Mozilla want you to join in and set a record for the most software download in 24 hours! Spread Firefox | Download Day 2008 could be good.... But the browser itself looks really good too. Is it bad that I'm excited about this...
Andrew_C Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Been using RC 1 for a while, now on RC2. Seems OK to me, I've not broken it yet!
contink Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Seems OK to me, I've not broken it yet! He says on Friday 13th... I'd vacate the area, I foretell a piano landing on his PC any moment..
FN-GM Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I have been using firefox 3 in Ubuntu for a while now without any problems
Edu-IT Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I'm using the release candidate at the moment. I like the changes that they've made to the interface and the improved download manager. I'm not sure what else is meant to have changed?
EduTech Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I have been using 3 for a while myself.. not broken it yet either RC1 was buggy and RC2 seems ok. One thing i did find was that i could not install Flash player like you normally do i had to download the FF version and install it that way. James.
Andrew_C Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 He says on Friday 13th... I'd vacate the area, I foretell a piano landing on his PC any moment.. Ohhh Sh!t!! Did I really write that? DUCK!!! Seriously, the only problem at the mo' is that .pdf files don't open in the browser. Not tried the download manager yet.

Not tried the download manager yet. I actually see the pdf thing as a good thing.. I can't stand having files open in the browser... but that's just my opinion..

EduTech Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Just downloaded and installed the latest from filehippo and it was still RC3. EDIT: sorry the start page tells you its RC3 but the version number is 3.0 And me RC3
RabbieBurns Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 since rc1 it has just been showing as version 3.0 it hasnt actually been listing RCx in the help / about
tomlin Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Read on Neowin.net The official version doesn't get released until 6pm BST (10am PDT), or 5pm GMT. Pointless getting it beforehand if you ask me, as otherwise it probably won't count toward the world record attempt.
EduTech Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 yup i just un-installed just going to download it off ff later
dgsmith Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 What are all your thought so far then? I wonder if they will make a record..
tomscaper Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 It looks pretty good, downloaded and installed at home and work. Not played around with it much, but seems good. So who tried downloading at 6pm yesterday, finally was able to download about 7:50pm.
Domino Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 I got it about 8.30 yesterday. I have to say, the differences are numerous yet small enough to not shock. The new download manager is great, the predicitive link thingy I assume will get better the more I use it, and the smart bookmarks look like a major improvement. I've also noticed it uses less memory , anyone else seeing this?

Not noticed the memory - how do I check that?
