CyBeRkId2002 Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 Hi all, Looking for a Server / SAN replacement and have had one quote (which I would say we are very happy with!) but in the interest of better reviewing the market I need to obtain two more. Can anyone recommend suppliers who can provide a fully managed server / san / hyperconverged solution including migration of VMs (VMWare -> Hyper-V) as part of the project scope. Thanks in advance. Michael
RobD Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 I can recommend MSP Lab Adam is really good at what he does.
Neil83 Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 We've had excellent service and support with Stone - https://www.stonegroup.co.uk/ 1
robyholmes Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 @johnlevis from VeryPC should give you a good price. 3
BKGarry Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 Design and Management Systems if you are down south are very very good
Rob_D Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 +1 for Design Management Systems. We use them for a lot and they've always been good. We've also had good experiences with Trams and Softcat.
johnlevis Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 Thanks @robyholmes, always good to get a recommendation. @CyBeRkId2002, Hi Michael, we've been quoting a lot of Hyperconverged solutions recently but if you prefer a Server/SAN setup we can accommodate that as well. jawebber Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 Would absolutely recommend the HP Nimble for your SAN hardware, have had ours for 3 years and it's excellent.
Tefters Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 (edited) Dell direct do some fantastic pricing. Replaced a 4x server + 2x san VMware cluster + 4 standalone remote desktop servets with a 2 node S2D hyper-v setup which is on NVMe for boot and SSD for storage for around £30k. In terms of storage capacity I spec'd for 3/4 our current used capacity and then migrated VM's myself 1 by 1 allowing for dedup every 5th VM and ended up using only 50% capacity after dedup had taken affect. If you don't want to migrate VM's yourself which is p×ss easy using a number of free tools then they can also do the work for you. Our setup also included Mon-Fri support with next day onsite and 5 year warranty. Would highly recommend Dell and S2D with dedup, will save a lot of money moving forward on footprint cost and maintenance. Having been a VMware fanboy for 10+ years, S2D has really come a long way in server 2019 and I would not go back to San again unless it was huge enterprise scale installs. Andycat Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 Would absolutely recommend the HP Nimble for your SAN hardware, have had ours for 3 years and it's excellent. We've had ours 5 years, but already EndofSupport making the connected UCS and expansion shelf unusable too, without buying another Nimble. We won't be doing that.
The_Techie Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 Would recommend Tom Drew at Medhurst https://medhurst-it.com/ getting ours done this summer
