Door entry / access systems (Paxton mainly)

Morning all, on a very snowy Bank Holiday!

 

We're investigating the options available for us to move away from our current door entry system.

 

Paxton looks to be the best all round platform - integrates well with our MIS etc

 

However, I've had initial chats and visits from Paxton installers and been given wildly differing quotations - anywhere from £1100 to almost £3k per 'door'.

 

Without anyone divulging any detailed operating information, what ballpark figure should I be looking at for a swipe card door entry install?

 

I'm guessing that buying Paxton kit and installing ourselves isn't possible? We do have a full maintenance team onsite including an electrician and a qualified cable installer...

 

How do you guys 'do' your Paxton installs?

£1500 for the main door into school (Paxton). This also had to be linked into the fire alarm system (included in cost). I believe extra doors are cheaper to add but haven't got that far yet! Edited April 5, 2021 by ticktock

Around £1000 to £1500 per door, depending on if its a single or double door, reader both sides etc.

 

You could install yourself but I'd get first few done by someone else. Then maintain yourself and learn how they do it.

 

Try go for POE powered to keep costs down, just put UPS in your cabinets if you don't already have them. If you go for Paxton Net2 Pro you can link one door to the fire alarm and then use the software to release the rest, saving on fire alarm integrations. As long as you have a break glass as well your meeting regs.

 

C-Tech are who we use, fantastic firm! Price might be higher than some but they think about everything and you get a good end result because of it. Know them for years and they've grown quite a bit, but quality is just as good as it used to be. Credit to the MD Mike.

We are using Avalon fire and security here , great guys the system works great , they handle the installs , we program the doors . We have our net2 running on a server 2019 box on one of our hyper-v server

Mere UK did our installation. They’re based in St Helen’s. I’ve no idea how much it cost, but they did a good job.

I would expect to pay around £1,200 per internal door including having it wired into the fire alarm system.

I've got a quote on my desk at the moment to add two internal doors to our Paxton system. For 2 controllers, 2 maglocks, 2 MiFare Readers, 2 Key switches, 2 Break Glass Request to Exit and installation is £1883 + VAT.

 

That's essential card to enter each room, with a key to over-ride to get out or use the Break Glass (but this will more than likely be just a button for these rooms).

i think what others have said is about right price wise.. we love paxton got it on a lot of labs as well as gates and all external doors we have it integrated with ievo biometrics too... we do install our own as well as geting them professionally installed - we did one on our office door during lockdown you can get most stuff from ebay the readers, actuall net2 units, break glass emergency exit, exit buttons, mags etc

We pay about £5-600 per door for Paxton. We got some funky non touch buttons too. COVID safe!

No we use Progresso/Cloud School but not integrated at the moment but it can be using something like salamanda soft

i used CSV to export from AD and import into Net2 we have 1 department per year group and we just collect their figerprints at the start of the year so they can open the external doors.
