Hi all,

We have a nice, but old, Wordpress site where we host videos for teaching and learning. These videos are categorised by department, searchable, and stream to users on demand. The set-up is based on Flash and we are looking to move to something non-Flash for obvious reasons.

As things have moved on during the last 10 years, can anyone recommend, perhaps an off the shelf product, which would allow us to post videos / a video library which we could maintain and control (ie not YouTube) on site?

The reason for not using YouTube for this is that a lot of the content has been given permission by the copyright holders on the understanding that it is not made freely available or accessible publicly.

All suggestions welcome :)

We don't use streaming very often and only have a handful of content, but we installed Emby on our backup QNAP SAN. Users can log in and browse the videos and stream it from that device over the network. Not sure if it meets all your requirements, but it may be worth looking into.

If you've got Office 365 then check out MS Streams.

*Edit* Sorry missed you said you wanted something on-site. I've had great success with Twonky Media server at home (https://twonky.com/). It used to come bundled with QNAP NAS boxes.
