Edu-IT Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I'm really not sure that this is the right way of going about doing what I want to do. There is an inbox that we want to share amongst different users. I've setup sharing on this inbox and given the other users owner permissions but when I add this inbox to the other users accounts it complaints about not be able to access the specified location and therefore it cannot display the folder. Is there something I need to do or have I gone about this in completely the wrong way?
GlennT Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Have you set the correct permissions on Exchange? Exchange Advanced > Mailbox Rights in AD?
Edu-IT Posted June 6, 2008 Author Posted June 6, 2008 Have you set the correct permissions on Exchange? Exchange Advanced > Mailbox Rights in AD? No. I thought there was more to it! I'll give that a try.
Edu-IT Posted June 6, 2008 Author Posted June 6, 2008 What version of Exchange? Exchange Server 2003.
srochford Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I suspect you've given rights to the inbox but not to the root of the mailbox - you need to do both. It's easier to do this in Outlook - log on as the user who "owns" the mailbox and make the permissions changes. You can do it in Active Directory Users and Computers but you won't see the same info in Outlook - the ACLs are set "wrongly" I think. I'm sure that somewhere MS advise against using the mailbox rights in AD to do this (or it may be that they advise against mixing the two methods) but I can't find it now :-( You can also use pfdavadmin - free MS tool - which does public folder and mailbox rights nicely :-)
