Tribune bought Zentek way back in 2011 - http://www.channelweb.co.uk/crn-uk/news/2113298/tribune-buys-zentek-assets-education-push. I have heard the administration rumour elsewhere but do not have any more information at this time.

In essence it's shared common infrastructure (Active Directory, Exchange, Sharepoint, Lync, more to come); if you're part of a Federation there's no point in re-inventing the wheel at each site - the model still allows for uniqueness and innovation at local sites and positively encourages sharing of best practice across the group.

The job hasn't been up for long - they just go through Service Delivery Managers rather quickly. -

This is being advertised yet again! ARK Schools Application - Welcome -
I would strongly advise against dual-booting unless you have a very specific need to do so - it effectively doubles the number of machines you need to support. If the machines spend most of the time in MacOS, Windows Updates don't get applied; if they spend most of the time in Windows, MacOS X maintenance scripts don't run.

The site is offline - I guess it's an urgent requirement!

99.9999999% of the time Group Policy Loopback is a bad idea, as is using any sort of 'deny' on an ACL.

My Docs Redirection... Have I missed something?
Slartibartfast replied to adamf's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
If your permissions are set correctly on the root no scripts are required. The whole point of folder redirection is that the folders are correctly permissioned when created on first logon. -
Durrant. I should also add that despite being a T2S contact I received no notification whatsoever.

SQL, IIS & Apache Tomcat on a DC = not a good idea. -

There's also a Solution Architect role there. -
Apple don't recommend it, and a number of applications (including all Adobe CS applications) don't support it.

Do you have your home folders (including Library and other stuff - the Mac equivalent of Application Data) on an SMB (i.e Windows) network share? This is not advisable and can cause the problems you're having.

GPO's not being applied after upgrade to 2008 R2

Were all the forest and domain AD schema updates applied correctly prior to promotion of the first 2008 R2 DC? (also, pet annoyance of mine - there is no such thing as a PDC in an Active Directory environment) -

Can you ping the switches from elsewhere on the network? Can you ping anything when connected to the misbehaving switches? Is there anything in the switch event logs? Can you test any fibre links to the core and the associated SFP modules? Have you removed everything from each switch and tested them individually? Is STP enabled on the switches? -
Network Manager - The Ark School - 39k
Slartibartfast replied to IanT's topic in Educational IT Jobs
The academy will have its own domain and infrastructure (which is a part of the wider ARK Schools Active Directory forest) with server infrastructure on-site. It's currently hosted at our datacentre, but once the new building is in place (September) a pile of physical server kit will be installed on-site. ARK has a central IT team that provides additional second and third line technical support, MIS support, software development and project management resource. -

It's a new building with a substantial amount of IT infrastructure going in. The NM post covers the Primary and the Secondary. -

Obnoxiously expensive. Also, ARK as a whole doesn't use it - they use Hyper-V (hence my comment).
