leegcvcc Posted January 6, 2021 Author Posted January 6, 2021 I would say Freshdesk would do that, as it seems to do everything, it's just too expensive to justify for me at this stage. I queried educational pricing with their website bot (which they do) and left an email address, and I had a phone call from them and they answered all I needed to know really. Am booked for a demo next week, but I don't think I'll do it. I have installed SupportPal which is wicked for the pricing! Not for the feint hearted windows guy, but a good few late nights with Ubuntu, PHP and Google has me a working helpdesk that is really good. LDAP for operators and SAML for staff. Thanks for replies on this.... it has made me realise that Spiceworks was pretty good for what it was/is, and if they could host multiple instances, onpremise, I'd still be using it.... but there are also much better systems out there, but they all have their quirks.... ps, @Rob446 can you not request SMTP ports being opened by the authority?
Smokebomb Posted January 6, 2021 Posted January 6, 2021 We are using mojohelpdesk which is reasonably priced. You can login using azure ad and/or Google. Worth a look.
Rob446 Posted January 6, 2021 Posted January 6, 2021 ps, @Rob446 can you not request SMTP ports being opened by the authority? I have, they say they've done so, but it still doesn't work - same error code as before which points to firewall/blocked ports. I've just started a 20 day trial of Freshdesk, and it seems absolutely perfect. At £11/agent/month it's not breaking the bank either.
jthompson Posted January 6, 2021 Posted January 6, 2021 I've had a quick look at the free trial for OSTicket (SupportSystem?) but it doesn't support single sign-on or LDAP lookups for AD integration, so that's a non starter. I'm not getting my users to remember another login and password. Is FreshDesk capable of that? Basically Looking for a cloud hosted helpdesk solution that will send auto emails without requiring SMTP to be setup, and integrate with Active Directory for user accounts with single signon. osTicket can do LDAP and AD authentication with the use of a plugin - https://osticket.com/download/#ostPlugin. Emails will still require some SMTP and IMAP details to be specified.

I have potentially 15 across departments so it gets expensive going from a free helpdesk to Freshdesk. Looks great and i'd have it if I could justify it. Time will tell....

TronXP Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 Anyone used Freshdesk? https://freshdesk.com/ We moved to Freshdesk from GLPi via OSTicket and Spiceworks. All school users can log in via their google accounts. Pretty happy with it to be honest, had a few issues but were solved pretty quick by support. With 4 agents it is still a big jump up in cost when you were paying nothing for the others.
neonetman Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 We use GLPI (http://www.glpiproject.org) with multiple "entities" and mail receivers. Business rules will then put tickets into the right entity depending on which email receiver they came from 1
Rob446 Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 Did you decide on a system? Yep, FreshService. 10% education discount. Does everything we want so far. Scaleable as well.
