If these people only knew how much ionising radiation they were exposed to from natural sources (and stuff like Chernobyl and the sun - actual potentially harmful radiation) would they be able to put wifi into context, or would they shut themselves in a foil lined (dark) room?

I'd suggest she get her child checked by an expert to prove they do/don't respond in a normal way to such small amounts of radiation,
The only "expert" you'll find prepared to test this, will be drooling and wearing a tin-foil hat already.

To avoid radiation during the school play we have blacked out all the windows and turned off all the lights.

That article is heavily on the side of teachers!

Shock - union where the majority of members are teachers has an article discussing issues relating to the majority of members. The article points out the health risks to ALL staff and how photocopying is not something teaching staff can be directed to do.
