Ditto Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 Avoiding derailing another thread, the topic of browser names came up, so I thought let's have some fun with this - what about some alternative names? Chrome -> Shiny Edge -> Brink Firefox -> Burnout Safari -> Parkwalk Explorer -> Lost SIMS -> MISsed Smoothwall -> Rubble Excel -> Truncated I'm sure you can all do better!
DalekSec Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 Chrome -> RAMEater Edge -> Chome0.2 Firefox -> ComplieMe Safari -> DownloadChromeBrowser Explorer -> F 1
mikeprice Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 a few missing - in fact I looked up 'alternative browsers' on the WWW and got a list - most of which I had never heard of the only other 2 I can think of that I have heard of people using are Opera Tor any ideas??
Ditto Posted October 6, 2020 Author Posted October 6, 2020 Opera, that was on my wife's old mobile phone, a real cheap vodafone phone. Probably would be called Busker nowadays! Tor - that's the onion thing - where you, allegedly, have anonymity. I'd leave that name as is.
Ditto Posted October 6, 2020 Author Posted October 6, 2020 Browser McBrowserface...? Best alternative so far for me! Would anyone dare! 1

Opera is - apparently - still quite popular (ish) and good for privacy - if you are concerned about that for - cough cough - $reasons Tor??? dunno - does anyone use it for anything other than extreme porn and dodgy hacking???? I suppose we need to mention journalists in 'bad' countries - but other than that? Oh yeah - maybe drugs - as I have read in the Guardian
paulkerton Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 Windows - Holes Flash - Sloth Microsoft Edge - Chromi-ish Office - Orifice

Built in ad-blocking, which is an absolute necessity on mobile websites these days. Tor Blimey? is the version of Tor that routes through Yorkshire endpoints, I believe 3
SamanthaD Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Opera - Gig DuckDuckGo - SquirrelSquirrelStop Firefox - Wetcat
