chazzy2501 Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 (edited) I've seen that you can now take control of a user presenting a shared screen. I've used this today to offer at home technical support and it worked great! I had a user with no audio driver, (some flub on our part) anyhow I was able to do the whole Shift Runas to get the driver to run as admin (bypass secure desktop) and bam job done. This is going to be easier than quick assist that doesn't work here anyway Edited June 17, 2020 by chazzy2501
IT_JB Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 I've been using it throughout lockdown, works really well when people are already calling in to report the problem. Within a few seconds I'm on their desktop, rather than having to wait for them to pickup the email. However there is one bug i get fairly often where I'm not able to click any tray icons, anyone else get this?
CAWJames Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 Yep, been useful here too. Quick "Share your screen", "Allow my access request" and boom, done
smarties11 Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 How are you achieving this? Is it a case of presenter invites you into the meeting then they share desktop and you request control? Or can you access all ongoing meetings from the admin Centre? Our admin Centre is borked at the moment and awaiting a fix from MS. Is there then away to temporarily stop broadcasting the desktop to the audience whilst you work on it so students can't see what you are doing? We are telling out staff not to share desktop, only application windows to avoid accidental projection of sensitive material.
MatthewL Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 Yeah used it a few times when we've had issues recently, it's on all our devices but is easily downloaded if not.

Basically yes, although we start a one to one meeting and ask them to share that way, rather than in a big meeting. Although Teams now allows you to break out a main meeting into a mini meeting of your chosen person, so you could easily break out of a meeting, and remote support

This happened yesterday in the support call could no longer click on tray icons, I instructed the remote user to click the buttons.
