iSAMS - Cloud Based - using G Suite for school email: Be careful with this message ..

We use iSAMS - Cloud based. When iSAMS sends messages it pretends to originate from our domain.

When using the Gmail app we get warnings: Be careful with this message . This message has a 'from' address in but has failed 's required tests for authentication.

The sending IP address has been whitelisted.

Any solutions?

Thank you,

I'm assuming this is to do with G Suite DKIM settings, as DKIM is the system used to authenticate whether an email is coming from who they say it is.

iSAMS should be able to advise on this, I would've thought?

You'll probably need to contact iSAMS support for this. We use iSAMS, and iSAMS sends various emails on behalf of our domain, which is also hosted by GSuite. Your setup might be different, but iSAMS seem to be using Twillo's SendGrid to do the email-sending part of things, which makes sense as they are a dedicated email service. We had to add SendGrid-related settings into our DNS settings, and the SendGrid account seems to be our responsibility to administer, although it's set up with an iSAMS-linked email address. Check with iSAMS themselves what the setup is and how they want you to organise stuff - it took a while for us to get the login details for the SendGrid account, they'd got lost somewhere along the way during the initial setup.

I did make an SPF record change on DNS.

I asked iSams support the question first, but they said it was beyond their support.

David: I am indeed trying to get Sendgrid accepted - do you have details of the DNS changes?

We were asked to put 3 CNAME records in our DNS settings, with what I'm guessing are specific-to-us keys of some kind included in the value strings. My guess is that you (or someone at your school) should have received an email with similar details, something along the lines of:

CNAME sendgrid.SCHOOLDOMAINNAMEGOESHERE KEYGOESHERE.SOMETHING.sendgrid.net

CNAME s1._domainkey.SCHOOLDOMAINNAMEGOESHERE s1.domainkey.KEYGOESHERE.SOMETHING.sendgrid.net

CNAME s2._domainkey.SCHOOLDOMAINNAMEGOESHERE s2.domainkey.KEYGOESHERE.SOMETHING.sendgrid.net

Hi David,

I can see that access to Sendgrid account is required - I have no idea yet who in our school has the details. I joined in September.

They provide details on their support videos regarding the process - so fingers crossed!

We do the same. Use SendGrid and add the sendgrid details to our DNS settings. Not had any issues since.

EDIT: iSAMS support had to set us up on SendGrid, it was not something we did. We just sorted the DNS records.

Probably best off contacting iSAMS support and asking about the SendGrid account details - it might take a little while for your query to get to someone who can deal with it, but we got our issue sorted well enough in the end.

SendGrid had been set up by iSAMS and they eventually provided me with the DNS records similar to David's. Just awaiting for our external DNS to propagate.

Thank you everyone!

Are you all paying for SendGrid as it has a 100 a day limit on the free tier?

I imagine / hope the subscription is included with our iSAMS subscriptions. I've just logged on to SendGrid and checked our account details - the "Billing" and "Your Products" pages report "You don't have permission to access this page", which hopefully sounds like there are billing details there but are, sensibly, being kept private.
