Jawloms Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 We have a student who has a HP x2 10-p00na 10" touch screen Windows 10 laptop with a detachable keyboard. It cost us £200 ex VAT. It's now struggling and the battery doesn't last so I'm looking for a replacement. I simply can't find anything! Anyone got any suggestions please? Ideally I want to be able to attach it to the domain as we don't have iPads or Chromebooks anywhere else so don't want to start having to manage just the one. Thank you Stuart
3s-gtech Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 The Surface Go kind of fits this, but much pricier. We have a load of similar HP convertibles - they've been excellent (HP Pavilion X2, 4GB RAM and 64 bit compatible). Very difficult thing to match now at that price point. Tried Amazon? 1
GPeckss Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Suspect you could pick up an Acer TravelMate(B118-M-C7DR) for around the same price mark. Very small laptop, doesn't provide a detachable keyboard. I have had one on my site for around 2 years and I have not had a single issue with it. 1
djm968 Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 A bit pricey - https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/tablets/windows-tablets/lenovo-tablet-10/Lenovo-Tablet-10/p/20L3000LUK 1
Jawloms Posted November 19, 2019 Author Posted November 19, 2019 Found this; https://www.box.co.uk/81A60009UK-Lenovo-Yoga-330_2498820.html I assuming as it runs Windows Home, it's run other proper versions so I can domain it. It's only 'S' I need to avoid isn't it?
djm968 Posted November 19, 2019 Posted November 19, 2019 Basically yes, if it runs Home you should be able to upgrade it to Pro, Edu or Ent and join it to a domain, you definitely need to avoid Windows 10 S 1
mavhc Posted November 19, 2019 Posted November 19, 2019 Windows 10 S is just a mode you can turn off. 1
3s-gtech Posted November 19, 2019 Posted November 19, 2019 Yeah don't fear S mode, the machine will run full Edu with a key change. 1

AdamL Posted November 19, 2019 Posted November 19, 2019 We just got a bunch of these for sixth form students and they have been great. Battery life has been really impressive, and performance isn't bad. https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/lenovo/student-laptops/Lenovo-300e-2nd-Gen/p/88EL10S9992 Ignore the price as you can get these from suppliers for around 270 ex vat.
