We are seeing the printing registers error, but don't use SOLUS, prefering to deploy SIMS updates via SCCM. I am told that the fix for the registers error is a three part process - patch the database with dbupgrade, run SIMSSQLApplicationSetup on the SQL server, then run SIMSApplicationSetup on the workstations.

Does anyone know whether users will get the "Incompatible database" error if I patch the server and they attempt to run SIMS before the ApplicationSetup is run? I have a horrible feeling the answer will be yes.

As long as they have had the Main Autumn 2019 release applied tot heir workstation they will still be able to log in to SIMS. However if you have patched the database and run the SQL application setup exe and their workstation hasn't been upgraded to the Consolidated patch 2 version of SIMSApplicationSetups.exe and they try to access any area that has been updated by the server patch, SIMS will just crash.

We've had this at a few schools already.

Interesting bit of info!

Our SOLUS is configured to use SA (it was set-up by a Capita engineer, so of course why wouldn't it be?!), but I wonder if your SIMS support told you what permissions are needed by the user account?

@Koldov

Our SIMS Support Team have advised that the alternative (non-sa) account should have System Manager and Returns Manager permissions.

For those who have recently upgraded to SIMS Autumn 2019, and also use InVentry... have any of you had, or experienced problems whereby InVentry is not updating SIMS as students sign in / out?

Our Attendance Manager has just made me aware of the issue, and stated that it was OK before the SIMS update.

I'll be logging a call with InVentry, but just thought I would check here.

Thanks,

Hmm..... We use Inventry but only for staff and visitors signing in and out. Good to know though.

1401 and 1402 only addressed changes for the PLASC collection in Wales, there were no validation updates for English state schools in those so 1403 is the one we're all waiting for.

Just installed file, person who runs census get error message "unable to generate the return file" - she is new and I wonder if there are missing permissions on some folder in s:\ drive. As it runs for me fine.

Any ideas?

On the census return screen check the census folder path.

It should be a UNC path to somewhere where the person running the return has full control.

You can set it to be anywhere you like but it needs to be suitably secure as it generates all the sub-report summaries in that folder and many of these contain sensitive information.
