  1. Your SIMS won't stop working on 1st April, you just won't be able to update it any further so the Spring upgrade to 7.204 is likely to be the last one you receive (assuming that's out before the end of March that is!). So your grace period is effectively until it breaks and you need support from ESS or until you need to do a statutory return that you haven't been upgraded for (likely Autumn 2022)
  2. They won't get a notification unless they set up the Home Page widget for SLG Notifications. They can find the submissions in SIMS by accessing Routines | SLG and SIMS Online | Data Collection, or if they enable the home page widget, they can click through from that to the same place. Once they've actioned it in SIMS the status in the admin portal will update.
  3. You don't need staff logged out when you are looking at next years pastoral structure. It is however good practise to have everyone logged out when the next academic year is set up as it is a high drain activity which can slow SIMS right down and cause issues with timeouts for the other staff when saving during this time.
  4. Hi Huw I'm not Peter but I can offer you the following advice! If you go to the admin portal is it showing a message regarding an online services patch which needs applying? If so apply this and then restart SIMS Services Manager on the server. If you apply the patch without restarting SSM then you won't see the impact of the patch application until the following day. From memory the current patch is 26262 and can be deployed from SOLUS (you might need your support unit to release it to you though) If there is no message about a patch then skip straight to restarting SSM and you should find the students are in the right year groups.
  5. Assuming you're using SIMS, on the reporting filters screen add the blue sub report box called Classes as "exist", then click on to the no filter line in the box and click New. Open up the plus sign next to Class and highlight Class name and put a tick into Prompt at runtime and click OK. When you run the report enter the systematic class name into the prompt at runtime filter and it should only report back address labels for that class group.
  6. if you add the additional info columns into the template after you've created the marksheets then they won't show on those marksheets. As ajp233 said, just delete and re-add them and the columns should appear.
  7. 1401 and 1402 only addressed changes for the PLASC collection in Wales, there were no validation updates for English state schools in those so 1403 is the one we're all waiting for.
  8. If you access Routines | Data In | CTF | View Import History Log you can search for CTFs imported in a particular timeframe. This might be easier than reporting on the historic attendance from a feeder school!
  9. I've put a quick report definition together which should do what you need it to! It's prompt at run time for the date and it returns students with L or U in the AM session on the selected date and outputs to Excel.AM Lates.zip
  10. You need to apply a patch, if you're on 7.184 then it's patch 23421. It's a run once and there's some further troubleshooting steps to try if that doesn't resolve it but 9 times out of 10 it sorts it out!
  11. Hi @jmel27 I had this exact set up in the school I worked in (and got it set up in 4 weeks from the start of term to the opening of our first reporting cycle) and many of the schools I now support as part of my role at an LASU do this or similar too. Setting this up for each subject is very viable now that cloning has been enhanced in recent years and it's disappointing that you're going to give your SLT a message about SIMS Assessment Manager which isn't strictly true. As @Esteban_Child_of_the_Sun says, I can't recommend enough that you do a full Assessment Manager training course to understand the potential in the system and how customisable it is. If you can't access in person training then there is an online course and associated resources here (run by an Edugeek member)
  12. Personally I would mark the Y11s with an X code from the first Monday after the leaving date until the end of term. This is a non statutory school age absence and functions like the # and Y codes in that the reports discount the sessions so SIMS can calculate accurately. It is good practise not to off roll all students at the official leaving date if you have a Sixth Form as the DfE don't expect a new admission date to be given to students moving from 11-12.
  13. This can be caused by date formats. There's a KB on Capita MyAccount which gives the workaround below. This error is caused by the format of the Time and Date on the workstation. The Short Date should be dd/MM/yyyy The Long Date should be dd MMMM yyyy If this already shows correctly, please close all programs, then change the region to e.g. Canada, and apply, then back to English UK and apply again. This issue can be problematic if the user does not have sufficient access rights to change the regional and date and time settings.
  14. You could create that in Nova using Alternative Curriculum. You'd need a subject for "study" and then you can set it up to exist in every period so you can drop students into it in their free periods and can assign staff to supervise and a register exists for each period. It's a little fiddly to maintain but well worth it if you want to claim the study hours in Non Qual for census as you should be able to demonstrate that it is "planned, supervised and timetabled".
  15. You'd need to relax the academic management rules and assign them to the Y13 base band, then you will be able to assign Y13 classes. You'll likely have a clash or 2 to resolve though!
  16. Have you tried restarting the SIMS Services Manager in the Services.msc? That usually does the trick for me but I do work on Green Abbey all the time, not in a school environment!
  17. Hiya If you'd like to PM me your email then I'll send you the admission form from our LA. I can't post it here because it lives behind a password protected section of our website. We (SIMS Team) work with the Admissions team to make sure it matches SIMS/ONE as best it can while still being useful for the school.
  18. If you reset the effective date in the students individual attendance screen to 31/08/16 and hit refresh it will show you the whole of the last academic year, marks and percentages. Alternatively, run the Reports|Attendance(or Lesson Monitor)|Individual Student Reports|Registration Certificate report with the correct date range and it will show you the last academic year (or the one before for that matter!)
  19. I built one of these for a school yesterday, PM me your email address and I'll export the rptdef for you
  20. I had my first negative experience with the new ParentPay system this morning, with my parent hat on. Minimum top up for "My Account" is only £2 but the school have obviously still got a minimum dinner money amount of £20 set. I stuck £10 on which is more than enough to take him to the end of term on one meal a week (which is all he has) but when I went to top up his dinner money I couldn't without adding another £10 to My Account! The system wasn't broken why on earth have they tried to fix it?!?!
  21. Although I hate to go against Phil you can change the defaults inside SIMS if you don't want to go with Windows Authentication. It's in Panel 1 of Focus|System Manager|Settings.
  22. To remove the grades "properly" so they don't come back you need to right click on the cell, select "View/Edit Result history". Then highlight the row with the incorrect grade and click the red X that becomes active on the right hand side of the dialogue box. Downside to this is that it is about 5 clicks to remove each grade. Fine for the odd one entered incorrectly but not for stripping out a big batch of data that went wrong. To "properly" delete results for more than one student you're best going to Tools|Performance|Assessment|System Utilities|Results then following through the wizard to delete them. ETA: Must type quicker!
  23. They should still be sitting in year 7 until you get to the 1st of September. Then, as long as you've done your pastoral promotional routine, they will move up to their new year group and form group if applicable.
  24. Hmmmm, I do like a reporting challenge so I've been having a play! I can get it to a single sheet per student but where a student has more than one detention it is duplicating the sheet rather than stacking the information. I know there's a way to stack it but I just can't quite remember it right now!
  25. I have used this successfully on my test database and a couple of the schools we support have used it too. It is a bit fiddly but once you get it all in the order it needs it in it runs fine. If you PM me your email address I can share my guidance notes with you if you'd like.
