Switch User

So We don't allow switch user here, staff have to restart to log on, is there any better way of doing this as some staff are asking for switch user to be added

What OS are you running, you should have an option to log off.

Win 10 edu, we do have log off but in work areas seem to lock and then the next user has to restart to get in

Can I ask why you don't have switch user enabled? We have it enabled by default with no issues. For shared devices we have a nightly shutdown scheduled task, so multiple users signed in doesn't become an issue.

This - switch user works perfectly well as long as sensible mitigations against having 30+ profiles loaded are in place. Nightly reboots are a good option.

Caused Issues in the past, i will look int re-enabling it

We only have switch user on selected PCs as when we last tried it (admittedly back in windows 7) the classroom pcs began to grind after a more than a couple of users.

We also deploy this (https://4sysops.com/archives/restore-administrative-unlock-to-windows-7/) to allow admins to log out logged sessions without having to reboot the PC.

What would be really useful for us would be to be able to limit the number of logged on users.

We had switch user enabled at a previous place but had nightly reboots of desktops. This was mainly done to combat the issues where people were changing passwords on one device but leaving another device logged in with original passwords and getting locked out.

We have switch user enabled, it doesn't cause us any problems performance wise. Or at least, none that have been reported to me.

 

We are a primary, so a teacher will be sat mainly at their class computer, but subject teachers sometimes drop in during the day and need to take over for a few hours. Switch user is the ideal scenario for us in that scenario.
