[1809, ou] some PCs are upgrading themselves to 1903?

Yes, I have a (windows 10 education) 1809 rollout image with everything acceptable. I'd noticed a few odd desktops in the last few days and have discovered PCs running 1903.

How are you deploying updates? WSUS?

 

In WSUS you can turn off the syncing of feature updates so that it won't even attempt to download and install (Can't remember how exactly as we use SCCM)

 

Do you also have a GPO in place for what readiness level for upgrades and deferring feature updates?

 

Policies/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Update/Windows Update for Business

 

I've got ours set to Semi-Annual Channel and to defer receiving it for 365 days.

I found the only way to stop it entirely was to use https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/update/waas-wu-settings#do-not-connect-to-any-windows-update-internet-locations

 

This stops drivers from installing automatically via WU, so you have to turn off the GPO if needed.
