Took part in a moth survey at my girlfriends dads house on the south side of the Ribble estuary on Saturday. A great day, lot's of moths and butterflies out, then some nice (and much needed) downpours in the afternoon as we were all hading home. We had a Gatekeeper (aka Hedge brown) visit the mint planted by 5Foot2.

We have had a hedgehog take up residence; s/he can often be heard drinking from/tipping up the enamel bowl of water we leave out for the cat. We have since put out a few more drinking spots, but the enamel bowl seems to be favoured.

 

Plus, the other morning I stepped out of the front door to hear rustling in the low shrub on the right of the path in the narrow flower bed between our path and the neighbour's gravel "lawn". I assumed it was one of the neighbourhood cats until a fox sloped away, giving me a "I was enjoying my sleep!" look.
