Asset Management for MAT

Hi all,

 

I am the IT Manager for 3 schools in the MAT and I was looking for some IT asset management software that would be cloud based and allow me to manage all 3 sites in piece of software.

 

Barcode scanning would also be required.

 

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

We use Snipe IT too. Highly recommended, we used PS Asset Manager before and it's a big improvement and a decent cost saving on that.

We use self-hosted GLPI but you almost certainly get that hosted somewhere.

 

You can have multiple 'entities' (i.e. schools) in that, with granular permissions as required. No barcode support as such, but if your barcodes are the asset tag or hostname, you can integrate a barcode reading into a search query URL and bring up the relevant item as a search result. For instance, the ZXing Barcode Scanner Android app supports automatically opening a custom URL that includes the barcode. I have it automatically open a GPLI search result for the item.

We've used SnipeIT, then i moved to GLPi, and now we're finally settling on PS Assets as it will also help with finance with contacts and helpdesks as well.

Had a demo from Every and PS Assets. Personally I preferred PS Assets but they've gone with Every, which frankly looks like a pile of . Used PS Assets before and it was good enough for what we used.
