Hi All,

Currently going through the motions for replacing some old IWB's. Budgets are tight at the moment but we really like the BenQ screens and they appear excellent value.

Can anyone recommend a supplier/installer in the North west?

 

What you guys paying for BenQ RM6501K screens supplied and fitted?

Dont know about Benq but we've replaced all our IWB with Prowise touch screens and they are great.

A local company took us to a nearby school and gave us a quick demo. The school gave cracking feedback and we especially like the built in sound bar which just gave it the edge over Iiyama. Just waiting on a third quote but so far I’m happy with the pricing.

We are now installing 75" cTouch screens in the secondary schools (120 so far). Before that we had Iiyama 65" done in the primary schools. For the 65" we was paying around £1k each.

As always, the big question when choosing screens I've found is - do you intend to use any of the existing interactive board software like SMART Notebook? There may be licensing implications.

 

We install SMART 65" screens as standard now. Pricing is pretty good really these days.

We tend to be moving away from Smart TBH, teachers are tending to use office 365 more and more. Best pricing we have had so far is £1,699 supplied and fitted which we think is fair.

This is a very good point - I would just encourage you to check that staff actually need the software. Here (before my time), they opted for SMART large format touch screens because staff insisted that they must have SMART Notebook.

 

I know of two people across the entire staff that actually use it, and even they're not wedded to it.

 

The SMART boards are great, but we could've got cheaper generics and saved a bunch of cash.

Stay away from that company. Smart might not be overly worried as it is obsolete, but it hasn't been released as freeware so you still need a license. You'd probably get away with it, but a supplier shouldn't be suggesting it and the person responsible for licensing compliance in a school shouldn't allow it.

Spot on. Shame this is happening alot. Virtually every school I audit has a screen supplied by sales companies at a cheap price allowing the user to either use SMART or Promethean software without a license.

 

Some will just tell the school to use what they like.

Anyway I’m not too worried about the Smart element as it’s not something we intend to use going forward. Had two more quotes in this morning and I can’t believe how much they vary for the same kit/job. Giving a local company a try who has come in the cheapest and appears to have good feedback online. They appeared very knowledgeable and friendly to deal with. Let’s see how it goes.

Well so far so good, massive thanks to Educare AV Services. Superb from start to finish, even gave our staff a demo and fixed some faulty data outlets free of charge. Headteacher is very impressed with the kit and is already talking about purchasing more screens.

This is often the case. In one batch, I had £1000 a unit differences on SMART screens. Its quite amazing that some companies think they can get away with such profit margins.

i have some of those and theyre quite nice - though weve recently just done a bulk order with viewsonic and they were £1300 a panel buy 7 get one free and look to have the same featureset - though we did fit them ourselves.

Not familiar with viewsonic tbh, BenQ are very popular in our area and many schools have opted for them. There were a few features that we liked, free oktopus software, lots of free online benq resources, built in sharing features, blank screen, freeze function and better speakers built in. Can’t complain for £1699 +vat fitted. We did toy with getting the caretaker to fit them but was worried about this from an insurance/manual handling point of view.

I would definitely recommend a demo, the built in software looks like its a bit further developed and a bit more polished. install was about 180 per panel if i remember right with xma - they also include oktopus i think.
