No but we contacted multiple companies for pricing and these guys were the cheapest. They came highly recommended by another school in the area and were accredited by Benq which most wasn't. Installation was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. They only use their own installation guys so we didn't have Joe Bloggs turning up, who couldn't care less.

Do people who use Framework agreements for purchasing also go out for additional quotes. How do you know the framework price isn't inflated?

We have experienced this also, our supplier tends to have ways around it and can usually beat most prices even when bid locked. I do agree it's a scam everyone should be on a level playing field. The big companies tend to have the Monopoly on pricing, which is very unfair to the smaller local businesses that tend to give you the better service.

We have just done a similar thing with Educare AV, we pay a fee every quarter over a 5 year period. At the end of the term we can pay a small amount £199 and keep the equipment or return and start again with fresh equipment. We went with a term of 5 years because this is the warranty of the Benq screens we purchased, BenQ RE series which have been fantastic and have been very well received from staff.

Anyone experienced hdmi issues with Dell Lattitude 3440 laptops, any cable over 2m in length and the image flashes on/off repeatedly?

We have been installing BenQ’s in our schools for a numbers of years. They have proven very reliable and the latest RE04 models with EDlA are proving very popular. We use Educare AV for supply & installation who are awesome.

Apologies I didn't realise that included a data point installation, yes that does seem very reasonable. We pay £150 - £180 for a data point install alone.

That seems very high, I presume that includes bracket, cable loom etc? we don't pay anywhere near that.

Our best quote so far for a BenQ RE6503A has been £1399 + Vat fitted inc de-install of existing install. Seems about the going rate.

We had this and the only way it would work reliably was running Displayport from the screen to the dock. Been faultless since.

So were due another round of AV touchscreen installs. However our budget is tighter than ever this year and was wondering what everyone is currently paying for a standard install (65" Screen)? i.e De-Install existing IWB and ceiling projector, Solid wall inc 5m cable kit Thanks

In light of this incident how many of you guys perform your own installations? Have you checked you have insurance to cover you in such an event? I would say looking at these photos its a combination of a poor stand design and an inexperienced installer. All the fixing points are at the base of the mount and to make things worse it's even been fitted onto a plasterboard wall. (Absolutely crazy and there's some right cowboys out there!) BenQ RE models all carry an OPS slot so you can add any OPS computer of your choice. There's many suppliers out there, we have done this in a few rooms using Very PC OPS modules. We just added wireless mice/keyboards and it has been the perfect setup in a few rooms.

Maybe look at purchasing the absolute essential amount of lights to get by, probably 6 LED wash lights will be enough for an average stage because they are made up of RGB,W,A & UV rather than using single colour gels. You can easily add to the system when budget allows, sounds like investment is well overdue. Not sure where you're based but we recently used a company from Merseyside and the lights cost approx £200 each and a new lighting desk was also around £200. I'd imagine £3k or so would get you up and running with a modern LED DMX system.

Sorry we are referring to the 75" model and we pay around the same as the NS Optimum figures quoted for 65". We also get the same engineers each time who do an excellent job and are very trustworthy. I don't like random engineers turning up that in most cases have been subcontracted in and just want to get done and get home.

That's good to hear I think I'll just get them ordered, they seem to tick all the boxes. I think Benq will struggle to sell the RM on the back of this. For reference our supplier has quoted £1900 + vat supplied and fitted inc wallplate & cables etc but I'm sure area etc plays a big part in pricing.

That's good to hear, is the sound about the same as Iv'e noticed the RE doesn't have the soumdbar? Can I also ask how much you have been paying inc installation, if you don't mind?

So where in the market for a couple additional Benq touchscreens and our supplier has quoted RE6503 panels. My concern is we have previously purchased the RM6503 which I'm being told are now longer available. The panels are really cheap in comparison to the RM and I'm wondering if I should be concerned regarding features and quality? Anyone had RE panels installed?

Have you tried the old setup, DP - VGA? Are you monitors also 16:9 and not 4:3?

We have just installed various BenQ RM6503 at our school and they have been received very well and so far have proven faultless. Please don't be tempted by the cheaper RE series as the sound is terrible in comparison to the RM series. Give Educare AV a shout for pricing, smashed all our other suppliers and their work has been exceptional and nothing is too much trouble for them.

Hi Royce, we are currently using a company called Educare AV Services, they must be known to BenQ as the guys were saying they have fitted 1000's of Benq screens over the years. There due to install some stage lighting for us over half term, so I'll pass on your details.
