The pedantry is real FFS

You get these games on PS5 for no additional cost if you have PS+.

It's hardly pedantry! Sky is releasing Brave New World next month on Sky One, but I'm still paying for access in the first place. I'm not getting it for free.

I didn't know Downloadable Content could work without the original game :D

If it helps you sleep at night that you're paying 2/3rds the price of the original game for half the length of a game that was only 8 hours worth of gameplay in the first place. You go with it. :p

If sky gave you 18 months of sky sports at no additional cost to your sky one basic package, it'll be a closer analogy.

I'm not paying for either, because they both looked boring. Did you complete the first one in 8 hours?

Not really. I give Sony money for Playstation+ and Sony gives me online play, and games every month to download and play.

I gave Sky money for their entertainment pack, and they recently launched Sky Documentaries and Sky Comedy.

More stuff for the same money. Still ain't free.

About 10? It's the only reason I bought a PS4.

It doesn't matter how much Insomiac or Sony insist it's standalone game because you don't require the original, it's still a glorified expansion pack.

There's always grey-market sites like CDkeys that might at least put some pressure on the e-store prices.

sony stopped selling game codes you can get credit but you cant say buy the avengers as a digital code

I thought about it and could have bagged one from Currys this morning. I decided against it and I'll wait until next year, as I don't need a next gen console. My 3080 will arrive at some point, so that'll cover me for next-gen games and it means I have no need for the Xbox Series X. I never had a PS4, so I missed out on the exclusive games. So once I've exhausted the PC games I have lined up, I'll grab a PS5 and some games.

Plus, the thing is a brick and a half. I might wait for the inevitable slim version.

Has anyone else pre-ordered a PS5 for launch? Mine's being delivered today!

I managed to snag a pre-order and mine arrived on Thursday as well, I only purchased Spiderman Miles Morales, had a bit of a play of that and having a blast with Astrobot as well, have completed it but just working towards the platinum on it now. How you finding it so far?

If you do eventually get one and get a Playstation Plus subscription they have what is called the Playstation Plus Collection which means you can download and play some of the PS4 exclusives like God of War, The Last of Us, Days Gone and a few others, they might also add to it over the coming months. I will catch up on a few that I missed myself with this as well.

I picked mine up last week at a Midnight launch at my local independant game store , I had a 1am slot !

Set it up and started downloading Demons Souls then went to bed !

I have the Digital version as I havent bought Disc version games for the last three years.

Most of my Ps4 games are on an external hard drive, this works fine as long as you remember to safely remove the drive.

There have been cases of people unplugging their external hard drives and then having to rebuild their PS5 database or in the worst case a factory reset.

Games that have longer load times i.e. Gods of War I would suggest installing directly on the PS5.

Have to say its a brilliant machine, the controller is a real game changer. Astro Playroom shows off the potential for future games. The haptic feedback is very impressive.

Demons Souls is a fantastic re-make, 60fps in 4k a bit improvement from the PS3 version I played.

It might not be worth rushing out to get yet due to the lack of games specifically designed for the machine, mind you I'm looking forward to playing Cyberpunk 2077 with faster access time.

It is a lot quieter than my old PS4 pro.

That used to sound like a plane taking off with certain games!

Overall very happy with the console so far.

I got myself the disc version as I like having both options and also I have a good library of Blurays that I would watch on it as well. I agree with you on the controller, such a great piece of kit and it is smaller than it looked in the photos, fits snuggly in the hand. Now I don't know if my PS4 controller was on its way out or not but the thumb sticks feel a lot more precise as well. I've not purchased a PS4 game for ages now so might have to get Ghost of Tsushima at some point to give that a go with the upgraded PS5 version of the game.

The controller is a lot more comfotable than the old design, and as you said it seems more responsive.

I have seen that there is a slight latency problem on the Xbox Series X controller but I imagine thats more a software issue.

Two excellent machines from what I've seen.

I went for the optical drive version of the console and Demon's Souls. The Demon's Souls remake is outstanding. The visuals, audio and general aesthetics are spectacular and the gameplay more than holds up. Definitely one of the best launch titles ever on a Sony system IMO.

As many have said the DS5 controller is fantastic. Feels super premium and the larger size makes it more comfortable than the DS4 IMO. The upgraded rumble is more granular and the adaptive triggers pretty nifty. Plus I'm still shocked at just how quick the SSD loads! I've had an SSD in my PC for ages but honestly it's unbelievable that the PS5 can load games in literally a few seconds compared to the minutes some games used to take on the PS4. Even PC's with high end hardware and superfast PCI-E 4.0 SSD's don't even come close to the special sauce Sony seems to have under the hood here.

It might be divisive but I quite like the design and styling of the console. Plus the larger size at least seems to come with the benefit of cooler temperatures which keeps the machine very quiet. Speaking of styling I like that the system comes with removable side panels. It makes cleaning dust from the fan easy plus should mean we see custom colours and designs which provides some nice customisation options. Personally I'm hoping they release panels in the original PS1 retro grey with the old style PS logo and a matching controller :D

In terms of gripes I don't appreciate the increased price of the games with many first party Sony titles like Demon's Souls now touting a £70 RRP :( Also, the console and stand feel like they were clearly designed first and foremost to be positioned vertically. In horizontal mode the stand doesn't fix onto the console and it's very easy to knock it off if you move it slightly. Seems like a poor design IMO. Plus, out of the box the system only comes with around 650GB of usable SSD space. At least it can be increased using an M.2 SSD in future though.

Generally though I'm really impressed with the PS5 so far
