JordanT91 Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 Four years ago I built a good-spec gaming PC for a colleague. This week, their motherboard has died, and of course it's out of warranty now. It's LGA1150. As far as I can tell, these are all end of life. I can't find any for sale from a retailer. The broken board is a Maximus Ranger VII Z97, but I've been looking at all Z97, H97 and even lesser chipsets on eBay, but there's not a lot for sale. The only alternative would be to upgrade to a modern motherboard, but that means buying a new CPU and RAM when the ones he has are more than adequate. Does anyone know where I could find a reasonably priced 1150 socket motherboard, either new, refurbished or used?

The bottom one is certainly worth considering, however it's very basic. It doesn't support front USB 3 ports, and the speed of the RAM would be reduced. It's the only board from a retailer that I've seen though, so good find.

I think we're going to go for an upgrade to a modern board, CPU and RAM, and sell his CPU and RAM on eBay to get a decent chunk of the cost back. Thanks all.

Was testing out a site from a would-be new supplier and found https://www.amazon.co.uk/Biostar-H81MHV3-H81MHV3-Motherboard-Socket/dp/B00LJTPB8C . A tenner cheaper from supplier, but as they claimed to have "called and spoken earlier in the week" to get through to me, I'm reluctant to advertise for them. Plus their site is rubbish.
