powdarrmonkey Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 I love British priorities The threat of a nuclear attack on the UK in the 1950s caused concern over the supply of tea, top-secret documents which have now been released reveal. BBC NEWS | UK | Nuclear threat sparked tea worry
witch Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Well, let's face it - if there is a nuclear attack you might as well worry about tea as anything else, I suppose! Nothing you worry about will make much odds under a hydrogen bomb, now will it!
Andrew_C Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 (edited) It was probably concerns over maintaining civilian moral post-war. In the event of a limited war (IE not a gaping hole where the UK used to be) all water would have to be boiled, imagine drinking that with no dried leaves left to stew in it* *Thanks to Marvin, The Paranoid Android for that thought. (except it wasn't him, it was the drinks machine) Slaps head, wanders off mumbling. Not sure if I've spelt morale right anywhere in this post.... Edited May 5, 2008 by Andrew_C
john Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Hey you can't be a nice cup of tea and a sit down Mmmm nice
TechMonkey Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Hey you can't be a nice cup of tea and a sit down I can and when I haven't had my dried frog pills I often am. Very relaxing. Untill someone sticks the spoon in and stirs. Damn them
rhyds Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Think about it, you'd need all those techie-types to mount a counter offensive, and as we know, no tech can live long without tea or coffee...
Scotmk Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I dont drink tea or coffee, in fact I dont drink any hot drinks at all.
Friez Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 What on earth do you mean? It's scientificoligacally provenised that tea makes you immune to nuclear attack* * Not necessarily true.
Finding_Scotty Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 I dont drink tea or coffee, in fact I dont drink any hot drinks at all. Looks like you and I will be safe then! Although I am prone to a hot chocolate now and then... ah crap I'm up the creek now too argh!
cl0n3 Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 I dont drink tea or coffee, in fact I dont drink any hot drinks at all. Same here, just water or vodka (yin yang balancing that)
