Safe to delete config.pol and other files from Netlogon folder.

Doing some housekeeping and spotted a few files in our Netlogon folder :

 

Config.pol = last updated 1999!

 

ntconfig.POL = last updated 2008!

 

There are also some older folders dating back to 2014:

Default

Default User

Default User . renamed

profiles

You just know if you do, some long forgotten machine out there will throw a wobbler!

I guess it depends how many windows 95 and NT 4.0 machines you still have on the network? :-)

 

With the folders I would move them all to a 'todelete' folder for a few months just to be sure they aren't being used.

unless you have Win95/98/NT4 clients, you wont see anyone affected by the removal of these files. Windows 2000 and onwards uses group policy, not CONFIG.POL/NTCONFIG.POL files.
