hardtailstar Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 What are peoples thoughts about Paddy McGuinness and Freddie Flintoff? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-45937945 Chris Harris is to remain. I know Paddy used to front Car Shows that used to go straight to video back in the day. Not sure on Freddie But I have seen them on programs together and their chemistry has been good.
elsiegee40 Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Not Freddie. He is fine on a League of Their Own, but not a Top Gear type for me.
Jawloms Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Vicki Butler-Henderson, Suzi Perry and Jodi Kidd would have been my choices.
DalekSec Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Can't wait, Ding Dang Do Him and Peter Kay to go around the country in a camper van ..... wait no they've already done this. Dammit i want a new season of Max and Paddy so much!

I watched Peter Kay's comedy shuffle the other night (Series 3 has just started) which featured the clip with the pig in the campervan ... pure comedy gold
tg12 Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Not a fan of this announcement. I feel like they're too focussed on big names to draw people in rather than finding people who can present an entertainment programme about cars well. It's a shame Rory is getting pushed to a side role, he's exactly what I think Top Gear needs, along with Chris Harris. The last series was definitely at its best when allowing both him and Chris to focus on the cars (thinking particularly about that episode based around Japan).
ICTDirect_Dave Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 I'd have kept Rory and ditched the rest to be honest! Though at least Paddy and Freddie have chemistry so that should help. I've said it all along however, that there is only one trio currently on TV with the same kind of chemistry that Clarkson, Hammond & May have. They might know naff-all about cars, but I'd give Adam, Alex & Josh from The Last Leg the job in a heartbeat. Their Aussie road trip (Last Leg Down Under) was a great example of how they'd perform in a Top Gear style format. 2

But it would bring in a whole new challenge for Top Gear getting cars that Alex can drive.

I worthy challenge I think, and it would be the source of rather a lot of traditional Last Leg humour too! 1
safehands96 Posted October 23, 2018 Posted October 23, 2018 They should get Jake Humphreys for the main presenting kinda things, do away with the stig as thats been done and just get a couple of racing drivers. Job for Ricciardo when he leaves F1.
XiJ Posted October 23, 2018 Posted October 23, 2018 Get clarkson and co back. It’s the only thing that will save top gear.
DalekSec Posted October 23, 2018 Posted October 23, 2018 Get clarkson and co back. It’s the only thing that will save top gear. I can't be the only one who's fed up of people saying this? If you want them go watch the Grand Tour, i do, i watch both and enjoy both. No ones stopping you. wasn't a huge fan of Evans but since he's left been a lot better. Top gear was around before those 3 and it's going to carry on after them! 2

The way they have treated it, it won't surprise me if there's only a couple of seasons left. They are struggling to find the right balance and chemistry between the hosts, but the turnaround isn't helping!

They couldn’t handle Clarksons ego (no mean task admittedly) but don’t understand that it was the trio that made the show so well liked. Great chemistry. I’m a bit meh on the grand tour. First series okay but I got a bit bored. I think clarkson, Hammond and May need top gear and top gear certainly needs them.
