Tablet/Hardware Cleaning?

Hi folks,

 

Our school nurse has requested that we clean tablets weekly (ideally) to prevent the spread of bugs.

 

At the moment we get our staff and student desktops, student laptops, and classroom touchscreens cleaned annually in the Summer.

 

Do any other schools clean more often than this, and specifically clean tablets? If you do what products do you use, and do you use anything that’s specifically antibacterial etc.?

I hope that doesn't mean that *you* clean them weekly? LCD screen cleaner and a soft, lint free cloth (basically a glasses cleaning cloth) seem to be the best thinsg to use.

I suspect it will fall to us, but I'm guessing we'd need to use something antibacterial/viral, if such a thing exists for computer cleaning!

My feeling is that if the requirement is to clean tablets, then the same applies to keyboards and touchscreens, but that's another discussion...

I'd start with just a microfibre cloth and no fluid of any sort. That'd get off stuff like snot, cough spittle, etc. Antibacterial seems unnecessary imho, outside of a hospital or food preparation area.

A big time consuming task if you have lots of them, and they don't just touch the keyboards and screens do they?

Yes, this was my feeling also. There are almost 100 tablets in the school (we directly look after a third of those) and over 300 more classroom PCs and laptops. Surely if the tablets are being cleaned it's pointless not cleaning the keyboards and mice as well? That's a full time job for someone!

Hand cleaner in classrooms provided by the school along with a tub of wipes in each classroom is my answer otherwise employ an extra cleaner.

tub of screen wipes given to teachers - first class to use said tablets/laptops/pcs on say a Friday, get to clean the devices.

Some of our cleaners wipe the PCs down with a rag occasionally.

 

I tend to do stuff when it comes in for repair, or if its really unpleasant.

 

I use Nilco glass cleaner and a cheap microfiber cloth or blue roll. I don't know what the cleaners use.

The departments are responsible for cleaning their own computers etc.

 

We repair and clean when they are with us.
