jthompson Posted July 10, 2018 Posted July 10, 2018 Let's hope they're not too badly scarred by the whole experience. I can't imagine what it'd be like to be trapped in darkness for 9 days without food, or however long it was before they were found by divers.

A guy puts his life on the line to rescue some kids, and gets called a paedophile for his pains - just because he relied on his own knowledge and expertise and didn't fall on his knees and worship the contribution (from a suitably safe distance, no doubt) of a self-serving, publicity hungry multi-millionaire. It was a sealable metal tube with handles on, not much bigger than a child laying down, make from part of a Falcon rocket and apparently with measurements from Thailand. Musk tends to over exaggerate with his naming. Was it to big or unsuitable, who knows ? But I like the fact he actually did something even if it was PR. Moving a sedated, but bendy person through tight passages is much simpler than using a person sized rigid tube.

I only originally commented in regards to the "sub" just being a metal cannister. I'm not defending Musk's actions I just like the fact he was inclined to help, what's the point in having millions/billions if you can't try and help a few people along the way. I am the same, much respect for musk up until he called him "pedo guy". Hopefully he'll come out an apologise, the tweets have been deleted I believe.

Except vastly more intelligence and considerably richer. He's said something stupid, in the heat of the moment and regretted it. If I'd have said the same thing, no-one would have noticed because the 40 bots and 3 humans that follow me probably would never have seen them if I left such a tweet up for a week. However when someone of Elon's stature posts something for mere minutes, everyone's over it like a rash. He shouldn't have said it, it was stupid, but he speaks/tweets before thinking and is left to deal with the consequences after. I'm not condoning his actions, but merely pointing out he's actually a human being. And yes, the media will *always* make any situation seem far worse than it actually is/was.
