Projector repair company?

Hi, we have a problem with one of our NEC NP-PA550WG its an expensive projector so we would like it repaired rather than replaced, has anyone used a projector repair company before? Preferably in the south east and preferably that had a colour based issue (we have a blue tinge) also any ideas how much this might cost???

How old is it? Blue tinge is normally sensor related so I'd be sending it back to manufacturer.

NEC do an out of warranty repair service, which can include collection and delivery. Might be worth while contacting them and seeing what they say.

avpartmaster fixed our Epson-eb475wi for £120 (bad ballast) and our optoma UST (bad PSU). it's about £100 to diagnose the fault but if you go ahead with the repair it taken off the total cost.

I do ballast's and PSUs myself as I have the equipment to test it and I don't have to interrupt the optical path to do it!

Are other colours coming through but with a blue tinge? I've had where there has been a build up of dust on the LCD, mirrors, or polarizers and this has created a light blue haze over the entire screen.

Thanks for the responses, it's 5 years old so is out of warranty, the fault is it looked like it was going dim the lamp was on 1800 hours so about 50%, I ordered a new bulb anyway but its just as dull, then when watching a specific video at certain scenes skin colour goes blueish, we have an identical projector next to it in a 3D setup and the same file plays fine and is much brighter on that one, have checked all the settings and both are the same. If it were a cheaper projector I'd have a look inside but these were about £4500 new.

That does sound to me like a build up of dust on the lens assembly as with a new lamp not appearing any brighter. Is there a bluish tinge on a plain white background say a blank word document on the screen? Give the air duster a go and see how you get on and keep us updated.

it's been unplugged for a week so I gave it a blast with the duster and powered it on and it actually looks OK, bluish tinge has gone, but will obviously keep an eye on it, didn't actually see any dust come off of it. Thanks!

I used to use these guys. Not the greatest to deal with but always used to fix the issue. I used to drop off at their offices and pick up again to avoid delivery costs as I live fairly nearby!
