Hi All

We've been looking at EduLink with a view to using it in place of SLG and InTouch. Features such as homework and mobile registers and marksheets are potentially useful for us, too.

For those who are using EduLink with SIMS (especially if you're replaced SLG and InTouch with it), how have you found it? Both from an admin perspective (e.g reliability of syncs, etc.) and also from end users' point of view (how have staff and parents found it)?

Hi We are a long time customer of Overnet data back in the days when they were part of WebAnywhere. We didn't use any other systems before then.

There product especially EduLink One has just got better and better in my view. Staff love it with the ability to easily assign house points to sims which was a quick win. Marksheets also a plus for staff using it from home. Parents like the ability to view assessments 24/7 and be emailed their children's reports too. We don't use the homework block as our school currently prefers to use the paper planners for that. They keep developing the product with new features every few months so we now heavily use the room booking module as it syncs with SIMS, parents can update their info through it for GDPR compliance.

From admin side it is a set and forget job really.

Overall we are a really happy customer of theirs.

Likewise we've been with them for a long time and we love Edulink. I don't think we use it as much as we can be as there's a lot of systems we have in place that duplicate functionality, but it's used heavily for mobile registration, behaviour etc and it does those extremely well. We are looking at it for much more in due course but have no problems in recommending it. We love it, it just works and is reliable; when it hasn't synced for some reason (a password change by us and an external SIMS issue), they've actually contacted us before we noticed an issue and it was resolved. Staff love it because it's simple and just works. Our attendance chap loves it as he can do half of his entire job from home if he needs to. We haven't pushed it for parents purely as we already have a system in place for that and don't feel that parents would appreciate being bombarded with systems to use, apps to install etc but that will change in due course.

Afternoon,

I am just looking at EduLink for my school. We have just setup a trial. For LDAP sync it is only using LDAP not LDAPS. Is it possible to use LDAPS?

Also on the admin setup page we have to select our school from a drop down list which I don't particularly like?

From a users perspective though it is looking good.

Yeah, it's a bit odd but then again it's not private data; it's publicly available information via FOI anyway.

Can't see anything about LDAPS; not something I'm worried about as it's entirely internal from that service's point of view but Overnet will be happy to receive suggestions for improvement.

Were another long term customer of Overnet Data. We’ve worked with them for a long time and managed to nudge them in directions as far as improvements and feature requests.

Not many products/companies I’d recommend but this is one of them.

Our parents staff and students alike use edulink and are very happy with it.

We’ve asked for a number of features that are in dev and unlike some companies this does get done.

So are some people using Edulink One instead of SIMS parent app lite?
Yes we are, we were about to use Sims parent lite app but then saw the feature, enabled it, didn't tell the parents about it and some submitted changes themselves without any guidance / training!

Also means we don't have to give them another login as they are already using it.

Likewise, we're not going to roll out the SIMS Parent App lite but rollout the feature in Edulink. Again, another strong recommendation. We suggested the ability to carry out detention registers etc in Edulink and within a couple of months they released the feature! The Team are incredible!
