I'm having some problems with users adding favorites in IE7. A few days ago I redirected the favorites for students to a folder in their home areas.

\\server\%USERNAME%\Favorites

Now when I log in as a student and try to add a favorite i get an error saying that the administrator has prevented access...

The users have full control over their home areas and the favorites folder so it cant be a problem with the permissions on the share.

I also noticed that if i add a favorite manually in the favorites folder that it doesn't show up in the IE7 favorites toolbar...

Any ideas?

I think it may be a setting in the GPO somewhere but i cant seem to find it.

How did you go about redirecting?

Have you restricted unc paths in gpo ie they cant put in \\servername\share in the address bar. You might want to try mappeddriverlettter:\Favorites i.e. H:\favorites

Just tried that and it still isnt working.

I've taken two screen shots showing the error and the fact that the favorites folder is showing in the Home area.

There are favorites in that folder but they do not show up in IE when you view the favorites tab..

Check for a gpo that relates to ADM templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer and make sure that the " Disable importing and exporting of favourites " is off.

What kind of profiles do you run? Did you say the only problem is adding a favorite... you can view the favorite right? Was it working before you redirected it?
