DeGrimmy Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 Eeep! What looks to be open-world Halo, and set around the first game i'll warrant (Chief's Helmet certainly looks like the MkV). Very excited I'm fairly sure they said "Continuing Master Chief's story" but I could be wrong... It'll be interesting to see what they do with it, but it looked great!

sted Posted June 12, 2018 Author Posted June 12, 2018 I got the Trials news I was after... New game, Trials Rising not released till Feb 2019 looks like everything is releasing in February next year lol
Garacesh Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 (edited) ubisoft quite good some interesting things shown. im interested in the division 2 it looks a lot like ghost recon wildlands and if i can 1p it with 3 cpus or persuade people to join me that looks fun, trials i might get and possibkly starlink. played the closed beta for the crew and its very meh its not bad but it diddnt really do anything for me Did you not play the first The Division? It's kinda like Wildlands, but not really, but kinda. TD1 had a 'story'/group mode, where it was you an up to 3 other chums doing PvE, there were set story missions (each with easy/medium/hard difficulties where enemies got more bullet spongey as you went up, but you got better loot) and where you could roam around the city, coming across NPC mobs from different factions. This would net you equipment that was kinda MMO-in-nature, rolling for stats etc. Then there was the 'Dark Zone', the PvP-PvE area where you'd go in (again, solo or up to groups of 4) and get instanced with people of similar gear level, where you could again hunt npc mobs and get loot, but you had to call in a helicopter to extract your loot. Each chopper only had space for 4 players' items though, and everyone in the instance would get a notification when you called for a chopper and they could come and kill you and loot your stuff (and even extract it themselves with the chopper you called in), so it was kind of a team-based free-for-all that encouraged people to gank each other. Overall it was fun, but a bit different to Wildlands in playstyle (well, Wildlands at launch, I tried the beta, it was okay but I wasn't too impressed). The PvE was quite similar, but the main focus of The Division was its PvP Dark Zone There were a lot of issues with TD1 though. At launch a lot of the the stuff was handled client-side, so any kid with access to ArtMoney or similar memory editor could run around the Dark Zone with infinite health and ammo, and I kept running into issues where the world wouldn't generate and I'd fall through the floor, or textures failed to load in and would stay at their lowest LOD. But overall I still enjoyed the game and I'll be giving TD2 a look once we get more info about it. Edited June 12, 2018 by Garacesh
sted Posted June 12, 2018 Author Posted June 12, 2018 Did you not play the first The Division? It's kinda like Wildlands, but not really, but kinda. never played the 1st division as it seemed to be pvp rather than single player (or that was what i got out of what i saw) and while im down for coop campaigns shooting at random strangers who are willing to put far more time into the game than i ever will never appealed so i just never played it i also played wildlands a long time after launch and purely as a single player game where i just ran round doing what looked fun (never completed it but did most of the game just got a bit samey towards the end and it kept auto upping the difficulty (with rewards i wanted granted) to the point it became more of a chore than fun so i left it unfinished)i think i started on normal and it bumped it up 3 or 4 times and it was close enough to being in my reach to be annoying
Garacesh Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Ah yeah, TD1 was MP/endgame focussed. I have to admit I actually really liked the story/co-op part of TD1. It was surprisingly well fleshed out. But everything was pointing you towards the Dark Zone eventually.

Garacesh Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 and as far as i could see tat was just an area to get trolled in Well, yeah. Kinda But you could also do the trolling. Rather than hunt mobs you could hunt other players to take their loot.. Or just not care about the loot at all and hunt other players for the lulz. It was your standard MMO-run-dungeons-constantly-to-get-better-loot flavour of repetitive grind, just with the added hazard of other players thrown into the mix. Open enough to make your own fun, closed enough that if there were no enemies around you could still do something useful. Kept things interesting. I have to admit I liked it. Very much a 'you need to be with friends to enjoy it' style of game though, 100%
ICTDirect_Dave Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 I got the Trials news I was after... New game, Trials Rising not released till Feb 2019 Delighted with a new Trials game. I wonder if they're going to fill it with hidden puzzles and messages like the in evolution? Because they're going to have to fill some pretty big boots if so... https://www.kotaku.com.au/2017/04/the-trials-evolution-riddle-has-been-solved-and-it-is-truly-unbelievable/
L3OUGH Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Forza Horizon 4, Dying Light 2, The Division 2 and Anthem all look very very promising. Although I do feel my PC is going to feel old when these get released and all I can manage is medium settings (If i'm lucky)
TomHD Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 I was a big part of the riddle solving in Evo. I don't think there will be anything like there was in Evo because the studio RL is much bigger now and probably don't have the time and resources to do such a thing again. The "riddle" in Fusion and Frontier were nowhere near the level of detail that the Evo one was.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Yeah, and that's a shame, no game has ever gone to those kinds of lengths before. It's annoying knowing we'll never know too!
TomHD Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 What platform will you be playing on @ICTDirect_Dave ?
ICTDirect_Dave Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Likely Xbox given the chance, it's the kind of game I'd rather sit on the sofa to play.
sted Posted June 13, 2018 Author Posted June 13, 2018 well the nintendo conference was interesting too much smash for my taste. got a release date and name for fire emblem the 3 houses (boo next year) splatoon 2's octo expansion was droped in the splatoon 2 championships and a new amiibo for the octoling anounced, more octopath traveler info and a new demo that keeps progress into the main game (demo out tomorrow).

ICTDirect_Dave Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Hit me up in Feb if you want to ride with another Edugeeker! I'll warn you, I am top 100 global Haha! Well I think I'll just be a casual player, plus my six year old loves to take over on these kinds of games. Does nothing for my ranking!

From what I've read online Nintendo have withheld a lot of games people expected to be shown at the show I.E. Metroid As they've said they will announce the games nearer to when they are in a position to show any gameplay or the product is near a release date they can announce. Makes sense as a lot of the PS4 and Xbox games announced will probably be delayed.
Garacesh Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 As they've said they will announce the games nearer to when they are in a position to show any gameplay or the product is near a release date they can announce. The way it should be IMO I've always disliked the pre-rendered no-actual-gameplay trailers that come out too close to a game's inception. I'd rather a company just go "We're working on $game, we don't have any footage to show you but here's the concept art we're working with. We're planning on it being a $genre with $mechanics. We'll show you more when we've got something." Concept art is cool and I always wish we got more of it It stops them setting up big grandiose promises they end up not following through with It would probably push games into world-building with the environment (as opposed to exposition) so that they could show off 'more' with their concept art.
Bagpuss66 Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 The thing about Nintendo is they like their games to be perfect before they release them, I'll be too busy towards the end of this year playing Red Dead Redemption 2 and hopefully The Last of Us 2 !! https://www.polygon.com/e3/2018/6/13/17460856/nintendo-metroid-prime-4-not-at-e3

I agree with this. Although, I'd put something like the TES6 announcement trailer in the same category. It's pretty much just animated concept art and a title card.
