Have any of you got any experience recently with Arbor and their hosted MIS? We are thinking of moving away from on-site Sims.net.

Any positive or negative stories out there?

One of my schools moved at the beginning of the financial year (April) and the office staff are loving it. There was a slight hiccup during last week that meant I had to remote in to turn the SIMS VM back on so some data could be pulled from it, but that's been the limit of my involvement so far.

Maybe I'm reading this the wrong way, but I don't believe they have that many schools.

Is 9000 not a lot?

9000 isn't bad, especially as I'm pretty sure they were well under that figure when my school signed on - so they've scaled up admirably. Even SIMS must have had only a handful of users at one stage.

But Capita SIMS have 18,000 schools. 18+9= 27k and that doesn't include RM who are/were the 2nd biggest in the market. There are only around 23k schools in the UK. Is Arbor's user base mainly outside of the UK?

Some of our schools have moved over. Not heard a bad word. And the migration AFAIK went very well. It was well handled at least and Arbor seemed very pro active with it.

Arbor do other things other than just MIS.

I know a lot of SIMS schools who use it for reporting.

I imagine the 9,000 figure is not just their MIS customer base

Here are figures based on DfE census returns: Bring more data

Yes, it’s not 9,000 MIS users, it is only 160 odd! A big difference!

As a matter of interest what other MIS have you looked at @Divaldo?

Are you a primary or secondary?

Arbor have a free results Analysis service (something like a raise online report from your tracking data). My guess is that 9000 is the number of schs who've used that plus MIS customers home and abroad.

@CloudGeek I've got experience of Sims.net, PASS and CMIS. The reason for my question about Arbor is that they have contacted our Head who seems keen. I had a read of their website and marketing info and it sounded pretty decent to me. We use Sims.net at the moment so just tentatively thinking about making the switch. We're Secondary and 6th Form. Clever marketing trick then :-)

160 isn't that many.

From what I understand, it's great for primary but not really suitable for secondary.

Do you have any further info on this? Just that our school (secondary) is also looking at this and we didn't see any major problems.

Anyone able to let us visit ?

I could ask the head at the school that has it, but as it's a Primary it's probably not that useful for you.

Thanks, but it is a secondary I need to speak to .

That sounds more like it. I vaguely recall the head saying that x schools (I thought it was 100 and something) was the "break even" point and Arbor were now a few over. I did think <200 to >9000 in a few months was impressive!

That's what I thought. If you're on the South Coast I could ask the head if he knows any friendly secondaries. I take it you've tried the demo: https://arbor-education.com/en/contact

Yes please do. We've seen Arbors demo but SLT are quite risk averse and want to look at how other schools do this.

Good morning all,

Jay here, Arbor's School Success Manager. In total we work with 9000+ schools, the majority of whom use our Insight Benchmarking tool. We'll soon be supporting 400 schools with our MIS, and while we've got a bit of a way to go before all 9000+ of our schools are using our MIS, we do support the Isle of Man education system, a number of large Multi-Academy Trusts, and primary and secondary schools of all shapes and sizes across England.

I'd be happy to put you in contact with a number of our existing MIS schools. PM for more details.
