Which tablet would you run tapestry on?

I've done exactly this for my Son's nursery - they know I'm IT so they asked me to upgrade their tablet fleet and not break the bank. They had a set of 5x 10" Samsung tab3 on 4.4.2 and 2x 7" tab2 which were getting slow and unreliable (I'd replaced screens and charging ports and a battery for them).

 

I got them:

 

2x Buy Lenovo Tab3 Essential 7 Inch 8GB Tablet - Black | Tablets | Argos

 

5x Buy Lenovo Tab 3 10.1 Inch 16GB Tablet - Black | Tablets | Argos (which at the time were on offer at £99.99)

I've heard lots of good things about it running on Kindle Fires. This is not a personal experience though and I doubt there is much management on offer.

Worth also mentioning that the nursery I seem to accidentally be supporting also now have a Gapps domain which they use for management.

Whatever device you buy just make sure it has a long supported life cycle. These devices will have lots of pupil information on them so it's important they are secure. Iconnect another nursery app only support the last three versions of any OS. Storage is the other issue with lots of videos and photos being stored on the devices. Device needs a decent fast camera. We have ours managed via MDM and recently bought 128gb Ipads.

I would have said it would be iPads's or an android tablet. If we are currently getting iPad's as a tablet device for else where would it be reasonable to say that this is the tablet device. Also does anyone know it Kindle Fire's can be managed by any MDM's. Now if Google made a chrome tablet that would be good.

Ipad mini pricing seems to be higher than before. It was cheaper to buy the 9.7" 128gb than the Ipad mini 128gb. The new education ones may be the cheapest model to go for.

Tapestry by default will upload photos and videos straight to their servers, so your bandwidth in more important than device capacity.

As for trips, from seeing it used as a parent and in talks with staff that use them, they generally take the photos out and about, so the device doesn't need a connection, and then upload the photo and fill in the sensitive data once back at the establishment. This then becomes a discussion on whether a photo constitutes sensitive data without any context, at which point you end up considering banning all cameras and thar be dragons.

In that case, I'd wait for the Acer Chromebook Tab 10.
