Does anyone know how they got the Gemalto cards working on Windows 10 for Bank logon I have added the software. There is a web component box still appearing blank and not logging on this is happening on edge browser.

It seems to work most reliably using Internet Explorer in my experience. Also, the PC will need a reboot after installing the software.

Is this for Barclays bank? We had this set up with the 32-bit ESR version of Firefox - version 52, with specific support for older plugins:

Handily, we found that the 32-bit version could be installed alongside the proper up-to-date 64-bit version, so the bursar only has to use this specific version for bank access, with a special shortcut on their desktop.

 

Barclays are updating their system in some way, and now require us to move to an updated version of the plugin. However, when I last looked (a week or so ago), they didn't have a link available on their website to actually download the version they said was required. I need to check again this week to see if the download has been updated.

This is for Barclays bank IE did seem to do the trick for now. Did I need to install the Gemalto software or would it have worked with out it?

Yes. And FYI Gemalto don't actually recognise Edge as a product.

 

Gemalto is the most god forsaken software I've ever worked with. And I've done bulk installs of Adobe products.

 

There is no meaningful support. If you have a problem Gemalto blame the bank and the bank blame Gemalto and eventually both of them blame the fact that it's not a standalone machine with no domain, no policies and UAC turned off with full admin access. FML.

After speaking with Barclays about Gemalto not working when we went to 1709 (worked fine in 1703), they said try IE in incognito mode, thats still the only way our admin users manage to use Gemalto....

Right, checked my notes: as of around 8th of May, if I read the Barclays.net website correctly, we need to have Gemalto e-Signer v6.6. We currently have 6.0.02 installed, and Barclays only had 6.4 available for download at the time. This is to provide support for Firefox ESR 60 (released on the 9th of May) - we are currently using the next most recent version, 52.5.0. Barclays are advising not to upgrade to ESR 60 until you have e-Signer 6.6 installed.

 

I haven't checked for a couple fo weeks, hopefully there's now a link somewhere to v6.6 of Gemalto e-Signer.

Eh? Compatability mode I could understand, but why incognito mode? Thanks - might come in useful to know.

No Idea David, i though the same when they said it, but it worked straight away and has been since Oct 2017!I've not tried it on 1803 though.... Barclays dont seem to bothered about it working without Incognito mode.

Please can some one tell me what I am doing wrong this stopped working the plugin does not work on the end user machine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and it has not made any difference. Fresh install on my machine works. Please can some one tell me how you get this awful software working?

We use it with NatWest. Windows 10 1703 Professional. The software itself seems to be what allows the card reader to work. There's also a plugin installed into IE 11 that interfaces it with the bank, and we've had to add specific bank site URLs to our Trusted zone which were provided by NatWest.

Just been handed this piece of "software" - which is pretty shocking.

Has anyone got it working with anything other than IE11. Our firewall has dropped support for IE11 from its browser matrix, which is not unexpected but not helpful when Barclays insist on it.

Certain version of Firefox are supported. The last time I looked at this, Firefox 60.3.0 ESR was the supported version. Don't forget to disable auto update. You may need to rerun the install for gemalto to get the plugin for Firefox to install.

Its is ESR 68 at the moment and they are telling me that it has to be the only browser installed on the machine,

It looks like we will run up a VM just for this turd of a piece of software.

We have a Gemalto setup for Barclays/BACS, and it is fiddly. What works for us, when we're asked to assist, is:

 

1. Get to the page that asks for the plugin.

2. Download plugin. Close all IE windows.

3. Run plugin installer.

4. Re-open IE, try the bank page again.

 

Also, I believe we've had some luck running it through Chrome, which also installs a plugin. Edge is right out.

We have to use Internet Explorer. I think we also have to add a website to the trusted websites list. Been a while since installing it but I remember it being a pain.

TBH the I thought the latest version works fine with Chrome, I believe it installs a plugin to Chrome, but its while since I had to touch it....
