Hi, we have tried this in the advanced policies creating a policy named Block Snake but the game still works.

We ticked the website html block option, is there anything else we need to do ?

Sorry just checked this on internet explorer and it works, the students use google chrome most the time here.

Is there a way to block it on chrome?

Hi @Bagpuss66,

Would you mind sending me a screenshot of the policy applied via PM?

We'll take a further look into this for you and see what we can do.

Many Thanks,

Sorry to revive an old thread. but did this work in the end?

Wondering about this too. It would seem the game Minesweeper is coming back into fashion again but it's baked straight into google.com

Okay, i think i've found something as the Google Doodles are doing the rounds at our place.

The smoothwall is allowing the doodles from google.co.uk / google.nl / google.ro... and so on.

The smoothwall is only blocking the doodle games from google.com.

The google.com doodle games are being blocked under Online Games in the smoothwall however they are not being detected from any other google domain.

Update to this:

I've found the URLs to the games so if you wanted to test add google.co.uk/ or google.nl/ or google.ro/ to the beginning of the following URLs.

I've added a regex of logos\/2018\/gnomes\/gnomes18\.html for each game under URL Filter for Online Games.

GNOMES

logos/2018/gnomes/gnomes18.html

Cricket

logos/2017/cricket17/cricket17.html

Champion Island

logos/2020/kitsune/rc6/kitsune20.html

Coding

logos/2017/logo17/logo17.html

fischinger

logos/doodles/2017/fischinger/fischinger17.9.html

Rockmore

logos/2016/rockmore/rockmore16.html

Scoville

logos/2016/scoville/scoville16.html

Loteria

logos/2019/loteria/rc2/loteria19.html

Halloween

logos/2016/halloween16/halloween16.html

Hiphop

logos/2017/hiphop/hiphop17.html

PACMAN

logos/2010/pacman10-i.html

Has anyone been able to successfully block the google games either via impero or smoothwall yet? Pupils just default to these google games now as realise they are one of few websites that aren't blocked.

Apart from disabling javascript completely to make google look like a mess.... nope.

My way works by blocking each URL via Smoothwall and i've also applied the Smoothwall work around at https://kb.smoothwall.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003550360

For the pizza game, i have created a URL Pattern google\.\w{1,3}(?:\.\w{1,3})?\/logos\/\d so that it captures any "google.* domain \logos\*anynumber*" which is where the .js is coming from.
