This is a 5th grade math problem.

it is not a trick question.. This is a real maths problem so don't say that a bus has no legs. The bus driver is not part of the equation.

There are 7 girls in a bus.

Each girl has 7 backpacks .

In each backpack, there are 7 big cats.

For every big cat there are 7 little cats.

Question: How many legs are there on the bus?

I'll post the answer Tomorrow ;)

(Hmm.. no suitable Prefix..)

Right, here goes:

(7x7)+7 =56 Cats per bag

56x7 = 392 Cats per girl

392x7 = 2744 Total Cats

2744x4 = 10976 Cat Legs

10976+(2x7) = 10990 total legs

Does the RSPCA know these cats are being kept in rucksacks?

7 girls, 7 backpacks = 49 backpacks

49 x 7 big cats = 343 big cats

343 x 7 little cats = 2401 little cats

(2401 + 343) * 4 legs = 10976 legs

7 girls, 2 legs = 14 legs

10976 + 14 = 10990 legs

So 10,990 legs.

(Course, you did say "How many legs are there on the bus", technically the cats legs aren't ON the bus, because they're in a backpack..., only the girls legs are... but since you said it wasn't a trick :p )

Yup i think 10990 too

224 legs in 1 Bag

224 x 7 bags x 7 girls = 10,976

10,976 + (7 girls x 2 legs) = 10,990

Go on then tell me im an idiot lol :D

I've not heard this one before, but heres my answers ....

Excluding the bus driver, if none of the girls have feet on the chairs, or are one legged or anything like that...

There are 14 legs on the bus, the rest are in the back packs?

Posted

14 not including the driver. only the first line states that the girls are on the bus. the other lines just state what the girls have, not where it is.

I wanted to be awkward :p

I received this weeks ago. I believe its in an excel spreadsheet where you have to enter the correct answer. I never got it right and gave up in the end. A friend of mine's an accountant and probably better at numbers than me. I'll ask him :)
