CBS News announced Friday that CBS News Radio will be shutting down this spring after nearly 100 years of broadcasting. The company cited "challenging economic realities" and a shift in radio programming strategies as reasons behind the decision.

QVC on the brink: should UK shoppers be concerned? - RXTV

QVC filing for bankruptcy.

***edit***

just re-read the article. UK channel should still operate

QVC USA, QVC EU and QVC UK are all separate subsidiaries of the parent company.  Only the USA subsidiary (QVC USA) is preparing to file for bankruptcy.  QVC EU and QVC UK are (currently) unaffected by the USA subsidiary's action.

TL;DR. Loss-making McColl's stores that became loss-making Morrisons Daily stores will close. 🤦‍♂️

LinkMorrisons to close 100 stores across the UK putting hundreds of jobs at risk

Morrisons is reportedly set to close 100 stores across the UK, in a move that could cost hundreds of jobs.

Affected stores, which are all Morrisons Daily branches, are expected to shut over the next few months, with the supermarket looking to move employees to other stores “where possible.”

The news comes despite convenience being an area of targeted growth by the retailer, with CEO Rami Baitiéh setting the aim of opening hundreds of Morrisons Daily stores over the next few years.

Mr Baitiéh is said to still be looking to open hundreds more convenience stores in the coming years.

According to reports, the stores set to close are the “most challenged” Morrisons Daily locations and were loss-making.

All were former McColl’s stores which were converted to Morrisons locations after they were bought up by the supermarket in 2022.

Mr Baitiéh is said to still be committed to his convenience growth strategy, despite the closures, with the vast majority of new openings to be franchise stores.

Deserved for canning Gamestation tbh. Clearly the superior store. Always felt like the folk in GS were actually interested in games whereas GAME was 'just another retail job'.

I can't say I'm surprised though, everything's gone digital distribution these days. Heck I bought Split/Fiction the other week and even that was just code in a box.

We started off with a branch of Future Zone which back in the day, had the same vibe as Gamestations had. I felt like I was on first name terms with all the staff that worked there, plus the store manager was a family friend from years before.

Then it became Electronics Boutique. The staff were there for a few more years until they started messing things up and the workers I knew had gone elsewhere. Then it became a Game and it just wasn't the same. Around that time, we also had a Gamestation open up and it felt just like the Future Zone we used to have. Always super busy as well compared to Game which was often almost empty.

Then the inevitable happened and we lost our Gamestation and the really nice staff that worked there.

It's still known as Electronics Boutique (sometimes abbreviated as EB) here in Australia and still operating.

A Welsh employer has collapsed into administration. The London Mint Office Ltd, which operates a distribution centre from an address in Tonypandy, Rhondda Cynon Taf, has appointed Michael Magnay and Jonny Marston of Alvarez & Marsal Europe LLP as joint administrators of the business.

The firm distributes historic, commemorative and collector coins and medals. A statement on the company's website says administrators were called in on July 31. It has no connection to the Royal Mint in Llantrisant...

One fewer company peddling worthless tat.

LIV Golf has filed for bankruptcy protection with at least $45m (£33m) owed to players, who will now have the option to leave.

A Chapter 11 petition, which LIV says is to "preserve the company's business" as it attempts to restructure after Saudi Arabia withdrew its multibillion-dollar funding, was filed in the United States on Tuesday.

The breakaway league says it has found a new investor in BC Partners, following the decision in April by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) to pull its funding...
