Are there any other cheaper pens that will work with the old Promethean boards?

Unfortunately the school doesn't have the money to upgrade to Interactive touchscreen boards and we have 17 old promethean boards with projectors. School is more concerned with saving money than spending it on upgrading outdated IT equipment.

That's not a very helpful comment, is it? @pbad Do the orange ACTIVPEN3 pens work with your system? Or are they actually orange and it is just the image? If so I have 5 unused ones you can have I don't have any yellow ones - except for the very very old blue and yellow ones! I also have a black and red one too Edited January 18, 2018 by witch 1
Fazza Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 (edited) Prices will always go up on items that are no longer manufactured so when you find some you can afford, buy plenty of spares for the future as at some point not only will the price potentially increase but stocks of old products will sell out at some point. We have a spares shelf with all sorts of bits in and we're so glad we always order an extra one or two of something if we are still using particular products. [EDIT] I've just done a quick 'Google' and it seems £39.99 is actually the cheapest they are going for at the moment as others are over £50 for the same thing and the nibs appear to be selling for £5.99 and above so you might want to get a few of those in stock as spares before they end up going up or running out of stock. £39.99 might be expensive but I guess you have to look at it as being cheaper than replacing the boards with a newer model. If it aint broken, dont fix it! Nothing wrong with running old peripherals - some of our HP printers go back a long, long time but are still going strong! Edited January 19, 2018 by Fazza

pbad Posted January 19, 2018 Author Posted January 19, 2018 I've just remembered that one of the Schools that joined our MAT used to have Promethean boards and I'm sure I have a box of random IWB pens from when we cleared up/out their tech room... [EDIT] Are these any use to you @pbad? [ATTACH=CONFIG]47202[/ATTACH] These pens are for the activboard 378 pro. Unfortunately these pens do not work on the old activboards. Thanks for trying to help though, most appreciated. I have PM'ed @witch and @Accura2k7 and have taken their offers for the activpens.

We have 2 blue and 1 gray pens spare. @Pottsey, Witch and Accura2k7 have very kindly offered to send my school some spare activpens. Thanks to Witch and Accura2k7, I have enough for now as I have also advised the Teachers to be more mindful and take care of their existing activpens.
