Arcath Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 We have a school that has been told by the LEA that they can't host thier domain with them any more. Our normal domain registrar (DNSimple) can't be the registrar for .sch.uk domains. I'm hesitant to go with the first provider we come across. We only want them to be a registrar for us, we will be setting the NS records to DNSimple. Has anyone got thier domain hosted with another company that can take a .sch.uk domain.
Arthur Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 (edited) Has anyone got their domain hosted with another company that can take a .sch.uk domain. Vidahost can host .sch.uk domains. That's who ours is with and we don't have to pay anything (at least not until 2099! ) Our DNS nameservers point to Cloudflare since that's free too and offers more features. Blue_Cookeh Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 KCOM Business hosts our .sch.uk domain, NS is pointed to Cloudflare. 1
NokiX Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Krystal can host them too. Yes we can, I work for Krystal so can answer any questions you may have! I know quite a few people do use Vidahost however for .sch.uk domains so to be honest just go for whichever you feel has the features and support you require. 1

I'm getting an Invalid Domain supplied message when I put in a .sch.uk domain. As I said in the first post we only need a domain registrar, we will set the NS records to our normal providers DNS servers and use them for DNS.
SchoolsBroadband Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 We already host a lot of them. If you'd like a quote do send me a PM. Thanks Dave
Fazza Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 We already host a lot of them. If you'd like a quote do send me a PM. Thanks Dave I was just going to say to check with their ISP as that's what we did.

They're not bad either, though the automated billing/domain expiry required intervention from Emma to cope with .sch.uk domains.
NokiX Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 Krystal doesn't officially offer them since they are quite niche in the grand scheme of what we offer but if anyone wants to register or transfer them as long as you sign up for an account your welcome to enquire so we can get the required product setup. You can also mention my name as well as it may be that I end up handling it!
NokiX Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 It turns out the product was disabled due to the way registrations work. It's been enabled so transfer orders should be fine now providing the TAG is changed to KRYSTAL however purchases show as being chargeable since we will need to process new orders manually. This should however make it easier for you to move .sch.uk domains over to Krystal but your best to contact support for new orders.
Sylv3r Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 We use TSO host for all our domains - no issues.
gomalley Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 We use TSO host for all our domains - no issues. TSO Host for us also - no cost for full DNS management of .sch.uk domains even if you are not buying any other services from them
ITGURU Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 TSO for us also - moved our sch.uk domain to them when the LEA stopped hosting external DNS. No issues since
