Recommendation for digital signage

Could anyone please recommend a decent digital signage kit?

Need a lot more info first - quantity, location, networked or stand-alone, budget, how you envisage content will be managed?

I will be starting of with one or two but eventually the number will increase- it will based at the staff room in order to display info (CPD Timetable, daily cover, etc.). I want it to be networked with a simple interface (web based) for office staff to manage the content - daily updates will be made by the office staff.

You could have little computers which open a webpage on startup and use google slides. Anyone can edit them then and update their own sections. @marsdenprimary uses this method and he likes it a lot.

We use the free version of Risevision, Google Slides and some old netbooks running Linux, seeing as we had the kit, it was zero cost, cloud based and it's been working a treat!

We have Xibo in one school, running on some old Asus Eeebox PCs.

 

The other school, I've just done Google slides and chromium in kiosk mode running on a raspberry Pi 3. Doesn't do video as well as I'd like, but for static stuff its fine.

 

I found I needed to have a javascript to reload the slide deck every now and then, as it doesn't update itself.

Trilby wanted a thousand quid off me.... it looked amazing, but the pricing needs work!

Hi @Joanne, i hope you are well ? How's the atari been ? Pricing is always the challenge given the nothing budgets at the moment. Vendors have to be creative and find ways to sell at a low cost and still be able to fund development. I'd hope Trilby like every other vendor in our space would be up for some price flexibility, its a really good solution ( if you can afford it).

 

Perhaps i'll do a NetSupport offer where you can win a free copy or two for your school ?

Good thanks! Yeah I managed to get them down a bit... but then the little signage machine I used wasn't very good at streaming videos from the net.... so it was all too much. My current solution is to play a Windows Media Playlist of different school videos and online safety cartoons!

At our school where we have it, we just use little Amazon FireSticks in the back of the TVs ( or the desktop player on devices) and stream from that. Trilby also provided some free little android players for the trial and let us keep them. Seems to works a treat and cheap kit. It's a great solution that is much more teacher driven to promote class work, so perhaps another plus is less overhead for the IT team to maintain it. I won't deny i am a fan.

 

We have Xibo in our offices for "NetSupport TV" we show on screens the building, had it for years and it runs / works fine, but only because we haven't touched it for years either.

+1 for Intel sticks and Xibo here, moved away from Signagelive as I found it to be clunky, expensive, annoying. Xibo has been fine and is far more flexible!
