Promethian Board

Hi All

 

recently i have updated computers from windows 7 to 8.1 since then the promethian interactive boards have stopped being interactive the computer does not detect them at all on windows 8.1 anyone else had this issue?

Any more information, like what model the promethean boards are, are they interactive screens or the old fashioned ones with projectors? USB or serial connections etc?

We had no problems with our old boards (using pens with orange stripe) on both direct USB and also via USB -> cat5e adapters on both win 8.1 and win10, also no problems with our newer style (touch) boards on 8.1 and 10 over cat5 USB extenders.

 

It's not something daft like your GPO settings are trying to install the 32 bit ActivDriver and your new OS is 64 bit? This caught us out when we moved from 7 (32 bit) to 8.1 (64 bit)

There the old fashioned ones that uses serial ports currently using usb to serial converter the converter is installed fine its just the board is not detected

That'll be it. Honestly there is next to no chance of getting those serial adapters working on anything newer than windows 7.

Our two (very) old Promethean boards are working with Windows 10, but I don't use USB to serial adaptors - the PCs still have RS232c connectors and they're plugged into those. No need for the converter driver that way.

Try an older version of the promethean activdriver. Install it manually and make sure you select the Serial option.

 

Can't remember which version works, but its in another thread on this forum.

Our older boards don't play nicely with the latest drivers. We go back to 5.7 I think and everything works fine.

I moved our school to Windows 10 1703 over the summer and have had no reports of connection issues with the latest drivers. The staff use their laptops so it's a clean install of everything for them rather than a network build.
