What do you use to print 6th form/Staff ID cards? We don't use the cards for anything other than identification. Its not even a card really as its paper that is laminated and then put in a holder attached to a lanyard. The member of staff that did all the IDs for years has now left and I want a simpler way to do them. The member of staff used an InDesign template, added the photo and then typed in the name of the person then printed. There has to be an easier way when you have over 100 to do.

We use our cashless catering system for printing catering badges, but for bus passes (has a design showing which bus they're allow on and what times) we're also using Indesign as you can use a CSV file mail merge to create many different designs from one CSV file.

We use SIMS command reporter to generate an updated CSV every night and the salamander photo export tool to get the picture out of SIMS. This is then msilmerged into a publisher template and printed on a magicatd printer

But for new students there is no photo in SIMS yet.

We use a software program called EasyBadge with a card printer. Imports from CSV, Excel you name it. Search for a name and click 'Print'. We do cards for all staff and students.

My son in law's employer has an id badge printing system on the reception. I enquired if it was any good and establishing they rated it highly asked what it was. It's a Magicard Rio pro. It looks like a really nice bit of kit. Edited by elsiegee40

We have 5 Magicard Rio pros. They work well and have been reliable.

For creating cards I wrote a PHP script that pulls the student info and photo and creates a pdf of the card to print. The mifare card number is then scanned in and saved against the user id.

We have an Evolis Primacy card printer whcih we use with Cardpresso. Photos can be linked to names in the list, meaning batch import/print is easy.

We also use this for printing staff ID badges
