ianniow Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Speaking of the military Road that is my daily commute to work. Paused on the way home the other day and took this 1
ianniow Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Heres a handy site for places to go and things to do. https://www.visitisleofwight.co.uk/ Generally the west side of the island is villages and country walks and the east side is a bit more commercialised.
ianniow Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Sorry I will post no more but here is the view across the playground from my office
JJonas Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Was lucky enough to work there for a number of months. Getting your car across is very expensive, hovercraft is the cheapest method but then you need public transport to get around the island and you are probably going to run out of time to do that in a day. Carisbrooke Castle | English Heritage is worth a look, they have a donkey tread mill for drawing water, but if I remember correctly they only demonstrate it a couple of times a day.
Joanne Posted July 14, 2017 Author Posted July 14, 2017 (edited) Yeah definitely gonna shell out the cash and get the car over, because we want to camp over night. If it's particularly nice we can stay for longer. I don't book anything, so chances are we might not even be able to stay over... but we could always sleep in the car I love talking to people about places I'm going to visit.... really enthuses me! witch Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 There is a donkey sanctuary on the island. It is free and they are soooooooooo cute 1
HarryMonkey Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Without wishing to turn the thread into an IOW travel brochure (but there's nothing wrong with that I don't think) - These are both in Shanklin from our trip last year.
Joanne Posted July 14, 2017 Author Posted July 14, 2017 Hey it can be turned into a travel brochure... definitely feel like I need to go there now!
